YAMUNOTRI
One of the four sacred dhams of Uttarakhand and revered in Hindu mythology, Yamunotri is the source of river Yamuna.
the Yamunotri shrine stands on the western flank of the Bandarpunch peak(20,731 ft).
The temple is dedicated to goddess Yamuna, the origin of the river Yamuna ias the Champasar glacier near yamunotri.

Nearest airport is Jolly grant :18 km from Rishikesh
Neareast railhead is Rishikesh :220km
The motor road ends at Hanuman Chatti, the remaining 13 km has to be covered on foot or ponies.

- YAMUNOTRI TEMPLE
The temple was built by Maharaj Gularia of Jaipur in the 19th
century ,but was deastroyed by an earthquake in 1923 but subsequently rebuilt.
Here a holy dip in the tank filled by hot springs, and cooking rice are part of rituals.
- SURYA KUND
There are number of thermal springs in the vicinity of Yamunotri, the most important of these ,the Surya kund,has a temperature of 190°F
Pilgimas tie potatoe and rice in a muslin cloth and immerse in water to be cooked
- DIVYA SHILA
A rock pillar, worshipped before entering the main temple.
