Parts 41-42
"Why do you hate her so much?"
"She didn't deserve Nino and she doesn't deserve Danny. Why do you care? We've been over all of this. Plus, don't forget about your little surprise. What was that all about? And how did your hospital visit go?"
Colin and Pilar are in the garden of the Santos estate. They needed to meet. Things seemed to be getting out of hand.
"You failed to mention your little plan could get her killed. That's why I modified our story. I had to make sure she was okay. That's why I went to the hospital. Of course she's upset with me. "
"Funny. You never asked if she would get hurt. You've been helping us set up people for years and now all of a sudden you're concerned? What? You've developed feelings for her? Too bad. She has to pay."
"Pay for what? Did she kill Nino? Danny says she didn't."
"No. Not exactly. But she's the reason Nino's dead. My only love is dead. And in a way, she killed Danny. He changed after that night."
"Look this is spiraling out of control. I like Michelle and Andrew. Just stick to my story and let me get Michelle and Andrew out tonight. I'll make sure you'll never see them again."
"What the hell is your story? You know Danny's gonna check it out. How are you going to prove Michelle isn't Andrew's mother?"
"I don't know. Let me just get her out of here."
"What if she doesn't want to go?"
"She will. Didn't you say there's no love between those two? And from what Danny's told me, he could live without Michelle, but not Andrew."
"So...?"
"So, if he has any doubt that Andrew is his, he won't care that they're gone. I can still arrange it so that Andrew is not his. He won't need proof that Andrew is not Michelle's because it won't matter."
"That still doesn't explain your lie."
"Well, Bernard made it pretty clear what he would do to Michelle if Andrew is not Danny's, but Nino's. So, if I prove that Andrew is not Michelle's, he can't possibly be Nino's and thus they will be safe."
"I have no idea why men feel the need to protect that bitch, but whatever. At this point, we have to go with your plan anyway. But you're on your own once you disappear with her and the boy."
"Got it. I'll be back later this evening. You be gone."
Pilar returns to the house and Colin heads for his car.
Carmen and Ray staring at one another, realize Michelle is telling the truth.

Danny is still in his study. His gut instinct is telling him Michelle is being truthful. Plus, she's pregnant again. Michelle's giving him another precious gift. Danny knows Andrew is his. So why is he letting himself be deceived.
Could she be right? Am I scared to commit to her? To love her? Is that why I am willing to believe my sister and my friend?
Carmen finds Danny in his study. "Danny, I need to talk to you."
"What is it?"
"I only want the best for you and Pilar. But sometimes, a mother can't have her way." She closes the door and approaches her son.
"Mama, you have given us the best lives one could ask for. Is something wrong?"
"I'm afraid our Pilar has been causing trouble. I should have stopped her from getting involved with Nino. Just like I should have stopped Mick from getting involved with drugs."
"Are you telling me that Pilar is making trouble for me and Michelle?"
"Yes. And son, Colin is in on it. But, he seems to have taken a liking to Michelle and doesn't want her hurt."
"I'll kill..."
"No you won't. I have a better way to handle Colin. And I must also deal with your sister's obsession with Michelle. She needs to realize that Nino chose to marry Michelle not her. Pilar knew about Michelle from the beginning and chose to continue carrying on with Nino. I want to know everything about Nino and Michelle and that night. Everything from the moment you met Michelle."
Our bags haven't been unpacked. I want to leave immediately, but Andrew is back asleep again. Kathleen just left me. She stayed until I stopped crying.
"Danny, I love you so much. I'm having your baby and you won't even acknowledge that. No matter what you think of me, don't you want our baby?"
Frustrated, I scream at the top of my lungs. And then I collapse on my bed in a fit of tears. Before I know it, I'm being pulled into two strong arms.
"Danny, I wish I never met Nino Rivera," I say between sobs.
He's stroking my hair and rocking me back and forth. "I know baby. I know. You need to stay calm. Rick said no stress. Stop thinking about Nino, Pilar; all the bad stuff. Just concentrate on staying healthy for our baby. I'll handle the rest."
I look up at my husband. Finally. He believes me. "What...why...?" I can't find any words.
"You were right. I need to let go of my fear of loving you. I heard every word you said, honey. This is all my fault. If I had just stopped Pilar..."
"No, Danny. Don't blame yourself. I think Nino would have hurt Pilar the same way he hurt me. And you would have still killed him. Nino is to be blamed. I want to tell Pilar how her beloved was with me. Maybe she'll leave me alone."
Danny doesn't respond. He just continues to hold me. There's a knock on the door. It's Andrew. He wants to sleep in my bed. Danny smiles at me as our son settles between us.
I can finally rest knowing when I wake, there won't be any turmoil between Danny and me. He loves me, he believes me, he wants me. And he wants this family.
