Michelle awoke as the first rays of light from the rising sun came through the windows. She smiled as she felt Danny's arm tighten around her waist as she began to stretch. "Morning sexy," he whispered into her ear.
"Good morning babe," she replied as she felt him begin to kiss the skin underneath her right earlobe. "I thought you'd still be asleep."
"How could I look at your beautiful face if I were sleeping?"
"Danny, it's 6 AM; my hair's a mess - there's no way you could want to admire my looks at this hour."
"Baby, your gorgeous all the time," he murmured as he began to move his lips down to her shoulders.
Michelle turned over and brought her lips to his. She moaned as his tongue began to explore her mouth. The passionate exchange was brought to a halt by his ringing cell phone.
"Damn it! Who could be calling you at this hour?" Michelle groaned as Danny reached for the phone.
"Santos," he firmly stated into the receiver. "Yeah. I'll be there. Thanks."
"You'll be where? What's going on Danny?"
"I told you I was going to check into the possibility that my mother was involved in framing you. That's what the call was about. I called Jimmy last night after you fell asleep. I asked him to let me know when my mother was planning to leave the house for the day. I'm going to follow her until it's time for court. I'm going to find out exactly what she's up to."
"Okay. Danny, please be careful. I don't think I could handle it if something happened to you right now."
"I'll be fine. Jimmy said that Mama was planning to drive herself around today. I need to get to the house so I can tail her. Will you be okay getting to the courthouse on your own this morning?"
"I'm going to go back to the house to get dressed for court. I'll catch a ride with Rick and Abby."
Danny wrapped his arms around Michelle tightly for a moment. "I love you," he whispered in her ear.
"I love you, too. Please be careful today."
"I will," he answered as he got up and began to dress. Michelle arose and began to do the same.
They left the lighthouse together and went their separate ways. As he watched Michelle pull off, Danny muttered, "I'm going to get you out of this mess, one way or another."
