A Snowy Night
Part 2

Danny opened the door to their room, silently hoping Michelle would be asleep. He had no desire to rehash the night's earlier events. He looked across the room; the light from the lamp cast a soft glow over the empty bed. A note was propped on his pillow:
Danny,
I need some time alone to pull myself together. I'm not ready to face you
after everything that happened today, so I've gone for a drive.
Don't worry.
Michelle
"Michelle, only you would take off for a drive in the mist of a snow storm," Danny muttered to himself. "I wonder how long you've been gone." Danny looked at his watch and realized it was almost midnight. It had been several hours since he had left himself for the same reason. Michelle had practically thrown him out of the house. He had never seen her that angry. He had gone out for a drive to give them both some time to cool off before discussing what happened in court with Len any further.
Danny thought about how icy the roads were and decided to call Michelle's cell phone and at least make sure she was okay. All he got was the voice mail. He paced the floor for close to half an hour before taking off to look for her.
Danny circled through the parking lot at Millennium in an unsuccessful effort to look for Michelle's car. "Okay, you're not at Drew's and I saw Jesse through the window tending bar. Where would you go, Michelle?"
Danny realized the only place left to check was the lighthouse. The trip took forever thanks to the slow pace required by the blinding snow. The DJ on the radio mentioned something about Valentine's Day. Danny shook his head slightly as he realized the date. His mind flashed back through the year he and Michelle had spent together. He thought about their weddings and chuckled as he remembered Michelle's drunken night at Millennium. He was startled out of his thoughts by the sounds of sirens and the sight of flashing lights on the road just past the lighthouse driveway. Danny turned in and stopped at the bottom of the drive to look towards the accident scene, silently praying that it wasn't Michelle's car that was the center of attention.
