Amazed

By Heather

Danny walked into the club and went straight to the bar. It had been a very long day and he just needed to forget everything, if only for one night.

He and Michelle had a huge fight early that morning. She wanted them to move out, but he couldn't do that, not yet.

I just can't make her understand, he thought to himself.

He considered ordering a tequila but changed his mind and got a jack and coke. It reminded him of her.

She had walked out on him, refusing to live there with him any more.

Everytime our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take

Danny sighed. There on the jukebox, was one of their songs. Not normally country music lovers, but this song was one of their favorites. It had summed them up so perfectly, at one time.

He closed his eyes, remembering when they had first heard it.

It was after they had returned from San Cristobel. Still in the throes of their honeymoon, the passion in their relationship was still hot. They had decided to go back to Laurel Falls, to go hiking and swimming.

They had carried along a picnic lunch and a radio. After a very long hike they found a very secluded spot and decided to eat.

Flipping around, he had come across a country station and Michelle told him to leave it. When he asked why she had said something about country music songs being romantic.

He had retorted that they were all depressing and sad.

She'd just laughed.

So they had stayed there, eating, kissing, cuddling, listening to the radio.

Occasionally a song came on that they'd have a good laugh about. Being country music and all, some seemed really ridiculous. But some weren't. She was right, some were romantic.

Finally one came on that just...clicked. She jumped to her feet and begged him to dance with her.

Everytime our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away

She'd looked so beautiful that day, he wouldn't have been able to refuse her anything.

So he pulled her close, kissed her forehead and looked her in the eyes.

I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams

She sighed and enfolded herself into his arms.

I don't know how you what you do
I'm so in love with you, it just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

He kissed her neck, her shoulder, her ear. She sighed softly and pulled back to smile at him. He reached a hand up and slid the strap of her tank top off of her shoulder, pressing kissing all along her collarbone. She leaned her head back, allowing him to go up her neck and chin to her mouth.

The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark

He pulled her down onto their blanket they had brought with them. They stood there on their knees facing each other.

He gently laid back, pulling her with him, so that she laid on top of him.

Your hair all around me, baby you surround me
You touch every place in my heart
Oh, it feels the first time everytime
I wanna spent the whole night in your eyes

The twilight settled in around them, but they didn't care. They were lost in each other.

I don't know how you what you do
I'm so in love with you, it just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

They had made love that night, in the middle of the woods, for hours. One of the happy times, he'd looked back on when things had gotten tough. She said she did the same thing.

He'd take out that CD, he'd bought it after that day, and would listen to it, to cheer him up. It always worked too.

But tonight...tonight it was depressing him.

Every little thing that you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Oh, every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

Michelle stood in the door way of the Millennium, watching her husband nurse his second drink. She noticed that one of their songs had just come on the jukebox and felt a lump rise in her throat. She watched him, as his emotions played out on his face and his body.

She ached to go over to him, but something was holding her back. She just stood waiting.

Finally Danny felt someone watching him and turned around. His face registered his shock sooner than his mind did. He walked over to her and without hesitation, she took him in her arms.

He buried his face in her hair and told her how sorry he was. She told him she was sorry too and that she loved him.

They moved to the dance floor and danced again, still in love and happy together, no matter what they went through.
