Danny knocks on Bill's apartment door. He hears a crash, then the door is jerked open.
"Hi Danny!" says Bill, smiling and gesturing him in.
Danny walks in and looks around. The place is a mess and sitting in the middle of it is his sister.
"Hi Danny!" says Pilar grinning up at him. "Are you curious yet?"
"Curious? Hell yeah I'm curious? What's going on? How do you know?"
"Oh we can't tell you," says Bill, laughing. "We swore, under penalty of death, not to say a word!"
"How did you know I wouldn't remember?" Danny asks his sister.
"I know you Danny," laughs Pilar. "You don't remember anything!" She and Bill both laugh.
"Geez, I'm glad it's so hysterical," mutters Danny looking away from them.
"I'm sorry Danny," says Pilar, looking, or rather trying to look, contrite. "But I still can't tell you. All I'll tell you is, get her something, something NICE."
Danny only looks puzzled. Pilar can't help but giggle.
"Oh Danny, Michelle told me to give you these things," says Bill, producing a box from behind his couch.
Danny looks in the box. Inside, there are candles, various oils, and tons of flowers. Danny looks up at Bill perplexed.
Bill only shrugs.
Pilar says, "Looks like she has a romantic evening planned Danny." She and Bill exchange a smile behind Danny's back.
"Oh Danny, man," Bill looks slightly embarrassed. "I...I just want to tell you, that...I know we didn't start out the best of friends and all, but, I'm glad...I'm glad you're with Michelle now. You make her happy, so...you make me happy."
Pilar stands up and puts an arm around both of them.
"Bill," Danny stammers, clearly having not expected this. "I'm...I'm glad. I understand. I know I wasn't exactly pleased when you and Pilar started dating, but...I, I'm happy that you two are together. I hope we can be friends now."
Pilar looks up at both of them, with tears in her eyes.
"Congratulations Danny, and Bill." She holds out a card to Danny.
"This is for you," she says.
Danny looks down and smiles. "I've been getting this things all morning!"
"Expect more," says Pilar grinning. "Now, you have places to go, so get!"
Pilar takes Danny's hand, and practically kicks him out.
Danny laughs and scratches his head. "That was weird," he says out loud. He goes down the stairs and out the building to his car. He sits for a few moments pondering what just happened to him. Why did Bill say all that, why now? he wonders. It's so...out of the blue! He looks down at the tiny card in his hand.
"I wonder what this one says," he says as he tears it open.
"Hey sweetie," Michelle writes.
"Are you thoroughly confused yet? Don't worry, there is a method to my madness. All will become clear to you soon. Please go to Rick and Abby's house, they have some things I need. They already packed them up for me, but I'm not going to be able to make it. Thanks babe!
Love, Michelle."
"Michelle what in the hell are you up too?" Danny yelled.
He cranks his car and heads for Rick's house, all the way pondering what his wife was up too.
