Blurred

Part 4

Michelle raised her head from her notebook and took a look around the library. Busy and crowded only minutes before, it had become quite empty in the past few minutes. She and Danny were the only two people left in their section. She glanced wearily over at Danny. After about thirty minutes of copy his notes and studying them on her own - and being supremely bored by it - she was ready for the real studying to begin.

The real studying - in her mind - was studying him.

He was quite distracting. It was far more worse that sitting near in him class. Now the full force of THE MAN was so close she could hear his every breath, hear his deep, sexy voice as it muttered enchanting sounding words he was reading, smell his amazing, intoxicating smell, and feel his dark, intense eyes on her every few moments. This, more than anything he had said or done had given her small shivers of hope. Hope that maybe, just maybe, he was even as remotely attracted to her as much as she was to him.

Rising quickly, before she lost the small amount of nerve she had, she slid into the chair directly beside him. Bringing her head close to his, so close she could feel the heat that radiated from his body, she looked down at the book he was studying from.

“What are you reading?” she asked quietly, her voice slightly husky, breathless from being closer to him than she had ever been before.

He gradually raised his head, his eyes quickly scanning the page to finish the sentence he was on, and then slowly lifted them to hers. He smiled and her eyes drifted down to his lips, watching, as they parted, acutely aware of his every movement.

“I’m reading Twelfth Night by Shakespeare. It’s really good. Ever read it?” he answered softly with a grin.

“A long time ago,” she breathed faintly. “I had Shakespeare my freshman year and we did read it, but I barely remember it. What is it about again?”

“Well,” he started, leaning forward in his chair so that he was closer to her (his eyes looked dead into hers and she thought she was going to faint!) and propped his arms up on the table, his face taking a thoughtful look. “It’s about this girl, Viola, who is shipwrecked and decides to disguise herself as a man for protection. And then she falls in love with this man she starts working for, Orsino, but he doesn’t know she’s a woman or that she likes him. Then, the woman Orsino is in love with, Olivia, falls in love with Viola, thinking she’s a man! Everything is fixed though in the end when Viola’s brother, Sebastian, turns up alive, she thought he was dead, and all is revealed.”

“Oh yeah,” breathed Michelle. “It was a pretty funny play, as I remember it.” She laughed softly.

Danny laughed softly too, his dark, intense eyes still staring thoughtfully into hers. She could feel the heat rising to her face as his eyes began to take a slow tour of her face. She felt her blush deepen even more as they fell to her lips and lingered there for what felt like an eternity.

“Yes, I suppose so,” he answered softly, still smiling softly. I find it interesting that Viola doesn’t get what she wants until she becomes her true self again. Clearly a message that one should be truthful and honest especially with themselves.”

“Umm…hmm…” Michelle murmured, her body tingling all over as Danny reached out and took her hand in his. Her eyes followed every movement of his mouth as he talked.

Leaning closer, he continued. “And one should definitely be honest about their feelings for someone else. Someone they care about. Don’t you think?”

Michelle merely nodded her assent, her eyes never leaving his lips.

And before she knew what was happened, those lips were crushed to hers. A feeling unlike anything she had felt before ripped through her body as those soft, strong lips took possession of her own. Hot, fluid electricity spread all the way through her body as his lips massaged her own. Reaching up, she laid her hand on the back of his neck, threading her fingers through his silky black curls and pulled his head even closer to hers. He lifted his own hands to frame her face, softly caressing her soft cheeks. She gasped softly as those lips coaxed hers into opened for him, his tongue flicking across hers, tasting, touching, igniting fires in places that had lain dormant her entire life. Their tongues danced together, moving swiftly and silently, leaving her body breathless yet feeling more alive than it had ever felt before.

“Michelle,” he moaned softly, lifting his head from hers slightly to rest his forehead against hers, her face still in his strong, tender hands. She closed her eyes tightly, savoring the feel of his skin against hers.

“Michelle?” he said again, this time taking her wrist in his.

“Michelle?” he said louder, shaking her wrist gently but firmly.

Her eyes flew open. Her face was pressed to her notebook, her hand that still held her pen lying beside it. Her countenance burned bright red as she realized she had again been daydreaming about Danny. Looking across the table, she saw him looking across at her, concern etching his handsome features.

“Are you alright?” he asked quietly, rising swiftly to take the chair next to hers, his hand still firmly holding hers. “I don’t know what happened, all of a sudden you started breathing heavily and the next thing I knew your head hit the table.”

“Uh…yeah,” she answered, completely mortified at what had just happened. He’s going to think I’m a complete idiot, she thought to herself.

“Are you sure?” he asked softly, his dark eyes made darker by his worry.

“Yeah, I just dozed off. That’s all,” she answered, feeling desperate to either change the subject or to just get the heck out of the library and away from him.

“Okay,” he said, not looking completely convinced, but at least pacified. “So,” he said, his wonderful smile returning to his face, “are you ready to study for Schleunce’s test?”

Her wavering confidence returned with the return of his smile.

“Sure,” she answered, smiling back at him timidly.

Bringing his chair closer to hers, her bent his head down to hers and they began to study together.
