"Look at you Sweety! You are so beautiful. I'm so proud of you!" Michelle stands by her daughter. "Maureen, I'm so happy that you found this decent man. I know you will be so happy!" Her eyes are filled with tears when she looks at her beautiful baby in the bridal dress!
"Don't cry Mama! It's gone be the happiest day of my life! And I am the one who is proud! I can not thank you enough for giving me your dress. It's the most gorgeous gown I have ever seen in my life!" Maureen takes her mother in her arms and kisses her cheek. "I hope Steve and I will always be so happy as you and Daddy are!"
"Honey, you know that we had very difficult times before we were happy." Michelle looked her daughter deep in the eyes "To have a happy marriage is always a lot of work. Nothing is for granted but when you know that it is worth of working for it, you do it with pleasure and with a strength you never know of yourself." Michelle starts smiling to herself.
"What's happen mommy? Why are you smiling like that, let me laugh too! I can use some distractions I'm so nervous. I'm a wreck!"
"Well be careful, my darling. This gown is everywhere known as the sunburn gown. You better take some sun cream or you will have the same pain your father and I had the day after our wedding."
Michelle laughs loud now. "That was so hilarious! All in love, starting to our honeymoon and we couldn't stand being close to each other because the heat of the other hurt so much the skin…Rick and Abby made fun about us the next five years." Tears rolling down her cheek, these time tears of laugh.
"Mother, please tell me again your ceremony on your wedding day! I remember you told me the story a lot of times when I was a young girl and you always had this special look in your eyes. Please tell me! Let's just take those minutes and let us be in another time."
"I you really like to hear this old story again, be my guest!"
They sit down on the love seat, close to each other and Michelle had the impression sitting again with her little daughter on the patio in the swing.
"My dear, 26 years ago, your father and I got married the second time! You know that we had to get a divorce for the first marriage because of some family problems…Anyway. Your father told me that he wanted this day to be so special that we never would forget it ever! I never would have forgotten these day even if your father didn't has so much wonderful ideas." Michelle smiles to Maureen.
"He gave me this wonderful white wedding gown with rose roses everywhere. And no shoes…." Her look shows her surprise of that day.
"You know, the custom, that it brings bad luck if the grown sees the wedding dress before the wedding wasn't important for us. We were through so much that time, nothing could through us apart.
So he sanded me a carriage with 4 white horses and they drove me to the beach. And there it was. The private beach, close to the lighthouse, was one big sandcastle. "Michelle tries with gestures to show the dimension. "I don't know how he did it, but it was so beautiful, so romantic. There were white flags everywhere on the sand walls and there were fanfares on the top of the lighthouse and they started to play when I arrived. I felt so special, I felt like a princess that moment. And they were all there, our family, our friends. You know, it wasn't a big Springfield wedding. Only the people we love the most were there.
And then my father was there waiting for me! I didn't even know that he would be there. Danny made me the happiest bride with this surprise! When I walked down the aisle at my fathers arm, the wind blowing in my hair and the sound of the ocean was so clear and the air so crisp. I never will forget that feeling. The feeling of freedom, of love and happiness. And when I saw your father standing before the altar of sand and your uncle Ray behind there. I knew…"
"….nothing bad could happen and we would be happy to the end of our days" Danny is standing in the door quite for a while listening to his wife description of their wedding.
The two women looked up to him and smile.
"It's time Sweetie! Your groom is waiting for you and let's go out of here, before your mother goes all pathetic." He blinks with one eye to Michelle and takes his daughters arm.
Michelle walks over to them and takes them both in her arms. Then turns around quickly so that nobody can see her tears of joy.
A few minutes later the music starts and when she sees her precious baby coming down the aisle at the arm of her father and there is only one thought in her mind.
How deeply she loves this handsome, decent man, she had the luck to marry so many years ago!
