When Michelle told Danny about the letter he didn't seem surprised at all. He told her about a friend of his doing business in Europe and he mentioned his news about Carmen. Michelle got even more and more worried as she twisted and turned it around in her head over and over again.
Michelle told Danny about her time spent in Europe a few years back, studying. She told him about meeting Greta there, only briefly, but also how they both became close friends in such a short period of time. She showed him the letter and Danny got even more worried. What was his mother up to now?
After a lot of thinking, they both decided to head for Paris to find out what this was all about.
----------------------
4 days later, Danny, Michelle, Cassie and Jason headed for Paris in hope of finding the answers they were looking for. If Carmen had anything to do with Greta's search in Europe, Danny wanted to know the truth. On the phone Greta had seemed relieved to know that Michelle had received her letter in time.
When the foursome arrived in Paris, Greta and her friend Eric Brady were waiting for them. Eric greated everyone with a handshake and a smile while Michelle and Greta shared an emotional reunion. Michelle had never even dared imagine seeing her friend again. After Greta's disapearance in Europe a few years back, Michelle had lost hope of her being alive. She had never heard from Greta until that day.
Danny intorduced himself to a dark haired Greta. Michelle had told him, Cassie and Jason about how she had met Greta in Europe while she was there to study a while back. Greta's mother, Gine Von Amberg was breifly married to a prince but that didn't last. Michelle was also aware that Greta had never known who her father was. A few months after Greta and Michelle had become friends, Greta had suddenly vanished without saying a word. Michelle had explained to them how she always felt like Greta was missing something, a part of her was lively and social and another part was very scared and lonely.
Danny shook Greta's hand and she smiled. There was this sparkle of innocence in her eyes that added to her natural beauty.
Jason had decided to accompany them on the trip since he knew a little about the place, having done business in Paris many times. He was a tall, strong man around Danny's age with short blond hair. His business wasn't reassuring to Michelle since she knew he had been making deals with the Santos family for a while now, but Danny had reassured her by saying that Jason Morgan was not your regular mobster guy. When Michelle first met him he sort of reminded her of Danny in a way. Not only because both men seemed to share the same closet but because Jason would never put other people's life in danger for his business purposes. Danny said that Jason didn't do business with Carmen because they couldn't stand each other, but with the years he and Danny had become good friends.
After Greta introduced them to Eric, saying he was a friend from Salem, where she had been staying for about a year.
Later on, outside of the airport, Greta showed them the key she had found in her mother's castle. It was a key with the Santos name carved on it. After a little while and some research on Danny's part, he found out that this key was the key to one of their cabin in the woods.
"Why would my mother have the key to one of your cabins?" Greta asked as they were all getting in the car.
"I don't know but i wouldn't put anything passed my mother....If she is involved in this, that can't be a good sign." Danny said as they heard the wheather forecast on the radio.
"Seems like we won't be able to escape the storms this year again. Showers and wind starting this evening should turn into violent storms during the night and continuing into the next few days. We predict this year's storms to be even more violent that those of last year so if you have no place special to go I suggest you all stay in the comfort of your own homes for the next couple of days. Now for the sports update....."
After one hour of driving, Eric following Danny's car closely, they finally arrived near the secluded cabin. It had already started raining, and the sun was slowly setting on the Europeen landscape. They all stopped and Danny got out of the car to unlock the door. When he tried to open the door, he realized it was stuck and Michelle, Cassie, Jason, Greta and Eric got out of the car too and came to help him.
The rain was showering on them and Danny handed the key to Michelle as he tried to break the door open. He pushed on it but nothing happened.
"Danny...." Michelle started.
"Hold on....Get back." Danny said as Jason, Eric and Danny tried to push the door open.
Michelle stepped back with the key in her had as she shared a look with Cassie. They were now all wet from the rain and Michelle grabbed Greta's arms and dragged her away from the porch.
"That is so like men to try to knock a door open like that." Cassie said with a smile.
"Is there another door?" Greta said looking at the cabin.
"That's what I tried to ask my stubborn husband...." Michelle said louder to make sure he understood. "But they are too busy playing bully right now....." she added.
"Come on..." Cassie said as the three girls disapeared in the darkness.
Jason went to the window and looked inside the cabin. All he could see in the dark was a long corridor.
"That is what you guys call a cabin?" Eric exclaimed. "That's bigger then the entire Salem Place."
"My dad always liked wide spaces..." Danny said as Jason pushed on the door again.
----------------------
Michelle, Cassie and Greta were walking near the back of the cabin when Cassie almost feel in the mud. Greta helped her up and Michelle continued walking. After a few minutes the girls found another door and Michelle tried to open it.
"Well well well...." Michelle whispered as the door slid open like magic.
The girls entered the house and reluctantly started walking inside. Cassie looked for lights but the storm was already too close and there was no electricity.
"That's great...." she muttered to herself.
The girls stayed close to each other as they made their way to the front door.
Outside the guys were still struggling with the doorknob.
"Ok at three...." Eric said.
"One...." Danny started.
The girls slowly got to the door and Greta started to turn the door knob carefully.
"Two...." Danny continued.
Greta saw what blocked the door and unlocked a small lock on the side of the door.
"Three..." Danny finished as the three guys threw themselves on the door.
At that very moment, Greta opened the door only to see the three guys fall on the floor before them. Michelle couldn't contain her laughter and neither could Greta and Cassie at the sight of Danny, Jason and Eric lying on the floor in a pile.
"Hi...." Eric said with a childish grin on his face as he looked over to the girls.
"Well look at that...." Cassie said still laughing.
Michelle waved the key in the air as Danny looked up embarassed. Michelle smiled as the guys got up quickly.
"That was so manly of you all...." Michelle sais with a wicked grin on her face. "But you don't need to impress me anymore Honey..." she added.
"And what valuable lesson have we all learned here?" Greta teased as she and Cassie burst out laughing.
"That your wife is always right." Michelle whispered as she leaned closer to Danny.
"Alright alright...."Eric said laughing too.
Michelle smiled as they closed the door behind them and found themselves in complete dark. Cassie reached her hand out to touch the wall but instead she brushed someone's shoulder and jumped.
"Who is that?" She quickly asked.
"Just me sorry...." Jason said with a tiny bit of amusement n his voice.
Danny took his flashlight out and lighted the long corridor that the girls had taken to get to0 the front door.
"I don't think we'll be able to search this cabin tonight...."Cassie said as they all looked around themselves.
"I don't think so either..." Eric agreed.
"I'll go get the bags inside the car...." Jason suggested.
"I'll go with you." Danny said as both men went outside in the car to get their bags.
When they came back the group made their way to the living room and placed their bags on the couch. When the room became silent, they all heard a weird noise from the corridor. Eric headed for the entrance slowly as everyone stayed in the living room. When Greta realized that he wasn't coming back she carefully walked with Michelle near the corridor.
All of a sudden something grabbed Michelle's shoulder and she screamed.
"Boo!!!!" Eric laughed.
Greta hit him on the shoulder as Michelle did the same.
"Don't do this to me!" Michelle said
"It was just the wind...." Eric said smiling. "But I think we're all going to be stuck here for a while because there is no way we can ever make it a mile on this road now." he said pointing out the window.
"Now what are we going to do?" Cassie asked as they all stared at each other's wet hair and wet clothes, in silence.
