Greta walked into the cabin, only to find it empty. She called out for the others but got no answer. Her heart started beating faster as she heard someone walk in the corridor. The footsteps were slow and frightening. Greta had a bad feeling about this. She turned around to look by the window and saw Nikky and Lucky standing impatiently near the car. She watched at the end of the corridor and saw the back door wide open.
The footsteps came closer, so Greta hurried back to the front door, but someone grabbed her from behind before she could even reach the living room.
Jason opened his eyes and painfully tried to get up. He had been shot right under the ribcage and he was losing a lot of blood. He slowly lifted his body and looked around. The fog was blinding him but he was able to catch a glimpse of the shed.
�Cassie�.� He groaned in pain as he fell back on his knees.
He covered his wound with his hands and tried to get up again, never leaving the shed out of his sight. The man he had struggled with was lying on the ground, motionless. Two gunshots had been fired and they had both been wounded. Jason crawled his way towards the shed.
�Whoever is out there doesn�t seem to know that we�re here otherwise they would have come right?� Michelle said whispering.
�Not necessarily if they want us to stay in here�.� Cassie argued.
�Well don�t you think that we�d been attacked by the same people than those who put this man in here we�d be dead just like him? Why would they throw us in here�.??� Michelle said.
�Alright then whoever brought us here had his own reasons�� Cassie agreed. �Reasons that probably go against Carmen�s plan if her men are looking for us right now.� She added as Michelle nodded in agreement.
�Whatever they are looking for� Michelle started pointing to the door, �it has to be in here and we have to find it before they do.� She finished as both she and Cassie carefully and painfully made their way up.
�It�s certainly not only for this picture and this birth certificate either�� Cassie said as they carefully made their way around the dead man.
Michelle walked towards a few shelves and hit her head on something hanging from the ceiling. She groaned and moved around the pole and grabbed the shelves to help her stay up. Her shoulder was killing her and her knee was bleeding a little. Cassie was on the other side of the shed looking through a big box. Her right leg had hurt so much that she was slowly loosing any senses in it and her head was making her dizzy.
After a few minutes, she stumbled upon a large bag tied in with a knot. Cassie�s hands were shaking from the cold and she was not able to untie it.
�Michelle�.� She called out as Michelle slowly walked towards her, carefully trying not to touch Mike, the dead man, on her way over there.
�You�re freezing.� Michelle acknowledged.
�I�m fine�I can�t undo this�� Cassie answered.
After the knot was undone, Michelle opened the bag and started looking through it. She suddenly stopped herself and starred at the content of the bag. Cassie looked inside and saw a few dresses, pictures, a diary and many valuable objects. She reached out and picked up the diary. As she and Michelle opened it, a flood of emotions overcame them. Michelle�s eyes filled with tears at the first sentence she read.
�Oh my God�� Michelle whispered.
At that moment they heard a loud bang on the door.
�Cassie�Michelle�� the voice said in a stifle cry.
�Jason!?� Cassie semi-asked semi-exclaimed at the sound of the voice.
Two seconds later they heard a loud gunshot from the door, which made Cassie and Michelle�s heart stop. They both stared at the door, breathless and speechless until the door flew open and Jason fell on the ground before them.
�Oh my God Jason�� Michelle whispered as she and Cassie rushed to his side.
Lucky and Nikky hid the car in the woods and quickly got out. Nikky then spotted a man limping his way into the alley. He met with a woman dressed in black and they both went into the cabin. Nikky was already on her way to the cabin but Lucky stopped her.
�You can�t go in there!� He said
�Well someone has to! Greta is in the cabin�.� She said as a matter of factly.
�I�m gonna go�.you stay here.� Lucky said pulling her back near the car.
�Don�T treat me like a little kid ok. You go in there and I�ll go in the backyard.� Nikky suggested.
�What for?� He frowned.
�Well he didn�t get hurt all by himself�and why would he come out of the backyard entrance�.??� She said. �Beside that wasn�T a suggestion, that was a statement.� She added.
They looked at each other for a while and then Lucky agreed. He walked towards the cabin and Nikky made her way into the backyard.
A few minutes later, Danny, Eric, Pilar and Billy drove into the drive way. When Danny spotted his mother�s car, he began panicking.
�Oh my God Michelle�.� He said as he rushed out of the car.
They all headed towards the cabin.
A man dragged Greta to the licing room and threw her on the couch. He was holding her at gunpoint and smiled at her.
�It�s over Greta�� Carmen said as she walked into the room.
What happened next was a howdown that none of them expected. The truth was close and the pain was already there. When Eric and Danny bumped into Lucky the confrontation was short. Their main goal was to find Greta in time. And that they did in the living room. When Carmen saw Danny enter the room she broke in tears.
�Danny�� she said but Danny did not listen to her.
�Where�s Michelle!?� he yelled.
But Carmen claimed to have nothing to do with that.
�I don�t know where Michelle is.� She said.
�Don�t lie to me!� he yelled at her as tears fell from his eyes.
He walked towards her and grabbed her arms demanding answers from her.
�Don�t you speak to me that way!� she cried out. �I had to protect you�.I had to!� she shouted choking on her words.
�Protect me? Protect me!?� he let out with a sarcastic laugh. �Trying to kill my friends is protecting me!?�
�These people are not your friends!� she shouted back.
�Trying to kill my wife is not protecting me�� he whispered through his teeth not listening to what she was saying.
At this moment Michelle and Cassie walked into the room holding Jason by the arms and helping him stand. Greta was frightened and in tears on the couch as Carmen held a gun to the rest of them. Jason pulled out his gun and demanded that Carmen drop hers.
�Because we know the truth�� Michelle said through her teeth.
�You can�t�� Carmen said in disbelief.
Nikky walked into the room and dragged the large bag with her. At the sight of it Carmen almost laughed and asked what it was. Cassie reached into it and took the small diary out.
Michelle grabbed it in tears and started reading a passage from it.
�Dear Love, our days together rest peacefully in my mind and I wonder how I ever lived without them. Our daughter is making her presence very well known and I wish you were here to share the joy with me�..� she started and then lifted her eyes and stared blankly at Carmen. �Do you want me to continue Carmen!!?�
�Where did you get that?� Carmen muttered as tears rolled on her cheeks uncontrolably.
�Maybe I should read the last pages huh?� Michelle said trying to hold back her tears as her eyes met Danny�s.
She knew that this would change the rest of his life, as well as Greta.
�I miss you my love, she has taken you away from me and our little Greta forever. I wish you were here when she learns to read and when she asks about you�It breaks my heart to have to lie to her even if it is for her own safety�I love you so much.� Michelle sobbed as she read. �I could go on and on about how you killed your own husband out of revenge because he loved someone else! And how you robbed Greta and Danny of the truth during all these years!?! You and Mr Santos had an arranged marriage and the truth is he did not love you! He loved Greta�s mother and you killed him and her because of that��� Carmen shouted.
The room was silent. No one was speaking. The shock was slowly passing through.
�You have no proof�� Carmen whispered as fear filled her voice.
�This bag is full of proof!� Cassie threw at her, opening the bag before her.
The bag contained pictures of Mr. Santos and Princess Gina in the cabin and some pictures of Danny and Greta as little children in the grass. Danny�s eyes welled up with tears as he saw the lie that his entire life had been and Greta stared, speechless, holding her cries back as Michelle and Cassie displayed the facts before them.
�It�s over Carmen�� Michelle said whiping her tears away.
�You�re right about that�.It is over Michelle�� Carmen said lifting her gun up and aiming right at Michelle and the others.
