The Masterplan

Part Seventeen

Cassie and Michelle held their breaths as they stared at the body lying motionless on the floor. The thought of it soon being them quickly crossed their minds. Cassie grabbed Michelles arm as the two girls crawled to the door.

After a few moments, Michelle turned around and slowly approached the dead body. She suddenly felt nauseous as her shaking hand reached down the mans pockets. Cassie came closer too as Michelle pulled out a small black wallet.

What is it? Cassie asked in the dark.

Michelle opened the wallet and went through it. The small glimpse of light coming from the small window lit her hands as she took an ID out of the wallet.

Cassie slowly reached out to the mans face and closed his eyes with her right hand, unable to face his staring eyes anymore. Uncontrollable tears fell down both Michelle and Cassies cheeks as they tried to remain calm and in control. When Michelle realized who the dead man was, she almost felt her heart stop.

What? Cassie exclaimed as she took the ID card from Michelle hands.

Cassie had the same exact reaction as Michelle. The two girls stared at each other, worries and confusion covering their entire faces.

Jason walked around the cabin for a while looking for Cassie and Michelle. He hadnt seen them in a while and wondered where they had disappeared. When he saw the back door wide open, fear rose in his eyes. He could feel that something was going on.

He slowly walked towards the door and faced the heave fog outside. He called out for Cassie and Michelle a couple of times, without ever getting an answer.

Michelle banged on the door at the sound of Jasons voice. Cassie dropped the wallet and soon joined her. There was a deadly smell that summoned the shed, which made Cassie sick. She was hitting the door as hard as she could along with Michelle but Jason didnt answer back. There efforts were pointless.

Jason!!! Cassie shouted.

Suddenly a dead silence invaded the backyard. Cassie and Michelle stared at each other worries filling their deep breaths. Michelle turned around every now and then only to catch a glimpse of the dead man they had now identified as Mike.

I dont like this.I dont like this at all. Michelle whispered.

Well thats an understatement Cassie nervously smiled.

Jason carefully reached under his leather jacket and took his gun out. He walked in the backyard, not seeing farther than 2 feet away from him. He could sense that something was not right.

Suddenly, a small noise was heard from behind him.

He turned around quickly but couldnt see a thing. Before he knew it someone grabbed him from behind. The two men struggled and Jason punched the man right in the face. The man grabbed Jasons arm and as the two struggled the gun went off.

The resounding noise broke the awkward silence that so far had reigned over the entire property. Jason and the man fell on the floor side by side as the gun dropped in the wet grass.

Oh my God! Cassie gasped.

Cassie jumped and banged on the door as tears welled up in her eyes.

Michelle took her by the arm and stopped her. Nervous tears rolled on Michelles face as she quickly tried to calm Cassie down.

Well obviously they already know were here!? They put us here! Cassie exclaimed in a whisper.

Well maybe. Michelle replied and then stopped herself.

Michelle looked around herself as she and Cassie listened. There was not a sound, not a noise.nothing. At this point, Michelle was starting to really get scared, and it showed. Whatever had happened with Danny, Eric and Greta had obviously backfired because something was very, very wrong out there.

Michelle saw the fear on Cassies face. It was the same fear mirrored in her own eyes. Who had fired? And most importantly, who had been shot?

Pilar and Billy had caught up with Danny and Eric at a gas station. Eric and Danny had explained what had happened when they went in to see Greta. Panic started to overcome them all. Billy asked for Dannys cell phone and started dialing Dietzs number.

When Mac answered, Billy felt like a burden had been lifted off his shoulder. Never had he thought they would get involved in something like this when they first ran away. He had imagined getting rid of Mac on the way to nowhere but somehow along the way he had grown attached to having her around. Actually he had grown more than just attached; she was the closest thing he had to a real friend. The sound of her voice brought a relieved smile on his face.

How did it go? Mac quickly asked regarding their attempt at finding Greta.

Not so good.they did not find her. Billy answered. How are you? Is everything ok? he quickly asked before realizing how concerned he suddenly sounded.

Im alright Mac answered a little surprised herself.

Pilar took Danny aside and softly took him in her arms. Danny didnt even bother to ask her why she was doing so, he just held her. Pilar knew how much her brother was worried. She could see that he was worried about Michelle. After what had happened earlier, he was determined not to put her in the line of fire. He couldnt bare to put her in danger anymore, although he knew that he had no control over that anymore.

Their little search for answers had now turned into a deadly chase for secrets.

She has crossed the line this time Pilar whispered trying to hold back her tears.

She crossed it a long time ago Danny replied as though his own words had been an arrow through his heart.

Carmen was not going to win this time. She had crossed the line

Greta and two other teenager called Nikky and Lucky walked out of a small rented car. Lucky was a young teenage guy with light chestnut hair. His small earring sparkled as he closed the car door behind himself. Nikky was a tall dark haired girl who seemed exhausted by the look on her face.

They both stayed outside near the car as Greta slowly quickly walked to the front door. Nikky and Lucky had been trapped in the same building than Greta but for a longer time. They had filled Greta in on what they knew about the Santos/Von Amberg connection. Greta had had suspicions about this from the day she had found the key to the Santos cabin in the back of a picture of herself. But now she was more and more confused instead of enlightened. What Lucky and Nikky had put together didnt exactly make sense so far.

Lucky Spencer had inadvertently gotten information on the Internet about a plan his fathers nemesis Faison had planned. He didnt seem to make anything of it until Nikky and Greta showed up. Nikky, a student in journalism was doing an assignment on the Royal family in Paris when she stumbled upon meaningful information. At least they seemed meaningful to whoever had kidnapped the three of them. She had discovered old pictures of Princess Gina Von Amberg before her wedding to the prince. After some research she, also, had stumbled upon the Internet information linking the Princess to the Santos family.

Greta didnt exactly know what to make of it but she was positive now that her mother had more than one secrets. And she was even more certain that those secrets were some Carmen, Stephano and whoever that Faison guy was wanted to stay buried.

Nikky seemed extremely nervous as she watched Greta walk to the door.

I have a bad feeling Lucky she whispered.

Lucky softly put his hand on Nikkys shoulder as to reassure her somehow. While they were trapped together, they had grown very close friends. Lucky had not forgotten his friends and family back in Port Charles but he had found in Nikky the only person he could lean on through this ordeal. The same could be said for Nikky. They had grown to be very good friends.

Greta opened the door and walked into the living room only to find it empty. She spotted a white cloth on the couch with red fresh blood on it and her eyes filled with tears as she desperately searched the room for a sign of life. She didnt know what had happened to Michelle, Billy and Mac after they had been attacked outside the hotel, and her fears simply grew bigger as she drowned into the silence of the house.

When did he say he would get here? Lucky asked Nikky as he looked at his watch.

He should be here by now. She said worries filling her voice. I know that he is not going to let us down. She added trying to convince herself in some silent way.

Carmen and Sheila sat in the back of a car, fast approaching their sought destination. Carmen was on the phone trying to reach Dietz but did not get any answer. She furiously hung up the phone and stared at the driver.

Are we anywhere near yet? Sheila asked.

Only a few more minuteshe answered as Carmens phone suddenly rang.

Carmen SantosFind it before they do.Im on my way she said before hanging up the phone.
