The Masterplan

Part Thirteen

By Andrea

Michelle turned and turned in bed unable to sleep. The pain was keeping her awake but there was something else. Something that she couldn't pin point exactly. Danny was sound asleep beside her and she looked at him almost envious with tired eyes. She wanted to sleep. she needed to sleep.

Danny turned in bed and wrapped his arm, sleepily around her waist. Her face twisted at first for Danny's arm landed on her bruised stomach. But the feel of his arms reassured her, so she let him. She moved a little to be a little more comfortable and closed her eyes. The only thing she could see was those men's hands as they banged her head on the car. she could hear Greta scream and one of the men yelling at Billy and Mac to get down on the floor.

Michelle quickly re-opened her eyes and stared at the dark room. She sighed and looked beside her at her husband. She hadn't gotten the chance to tell him anything. She knew that Billy and Mac hadn't either, and she wanted to be the one to tell him, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. Danny had been so scared for her safety and the fact that she had been hurt in the only place he had thought she was safe filled him with guilt. he had simply held her in silence all evening, barely speaking.

Michelle knew this would rock Danny's world upside down. She knew that he had no idea about the article she and Greta had found on the internet. She remembered the words she read and a shiver went through her entire body. She searched the room with her weak eyes and pulled the covers up to her neck. She had known all along that there was something about this place - something she couldn't explain at the time - but now she could. How was she going to tell Danny? How would he react? She softly stroke his arms, looking at his handsome face and she closed her eyes and wispered.

"I am so sorry Danny....." she whispered in the dark.

--------------------------------------

Later during the night.....

A sound....a starnge yet attractive sound came from downstairs. It was as sweet as the wind and as enchanting as a beautiful melody. Michelle stirred in bed and softly opened her eyes.

"Danny?" she sleepily whispered.

Danny didn't answer. She looked at him, asleep by her side and rubbed her face confused. Then it started again. The strange feeling she had been feeling many times in this cabin.

Michelle painfully got up and walked out of the room she shared with Danny. She was only wearing a tight white t-shirt and a pair of black boxers she loved to borrow from Danny's. She leaned on the wall beside her. as she slowly walked her way to the stairs.

why? why did she have this feeling.....this indescribable feeling that overcame every night she spent in this cabin. Her body was threatening to fall asleep right there, right at this very moment but there was this voice inside of her telling her to go downstairs. The corridor was dark and a bit freezing. Michelle didn't exactly know if it was the actual wheather or simply her, but she kept shivering.

Just as she was stepping in the stairs a hand grabbed her shoulder and she spun around in a jump. Billy was standing in front of her. He looked at her inquiringly.

"I'm sorry I scared you..." he apologized.

"No....it's...I was just surprised..." Michelle answered.

"What are you doing up?" He asked her.

"I was going..." she started but stopped herself before sounding crazy. "I just couldn't sleep." she finally answered.

At this moment, she started feeling a little dizzy and had to grab the wall beside her. Billy grabbed her left arm and she finally regained her balance.

"I'm sorry...." Michelle smiled embarassed.

"It's ok....you should sleep a little." Billy replied smiling.

"Well so should you!" She laughed.

"I am I am....as soon as princess Mackenzie can stop getting on my nerves." he answered.

Michelle looked at him and secretly smiled. These two seemed to hate each other sooooo much. But Michelle had seen them pose for Eric's pictures and she had seen how cute they were together. She softly laughed.

Soon after, Michelle slowly walked back into her room. Her little talk with Billy had made her forget about this magnetic attraction to "downstairs"

---------------------------------------------------

Billy walked back inside of the room and threw a pillow at Mac. Mac caught it and he threw her one of those "Are you happy now" look.

"Thank you." she dryly said before sinking in her pillow, turning her back to him.

"Will you leave me alone now?!" he said lying on the floor on his blankets.

"Well you're the one who took my pillow....." she said.

"You took the blankets...." he argued, defending himself.

They both stayed silent for a while.

"I saw Michelle in the corridor. She seems better." Billy said.

"Thank God. She could have ended up worse than this..." Mac sighed, rolling on her back. "What was she doing up?" she quickly added a little surprised.

"Unable to sleep I guess..." he answered turning his head to catch a glimpse of her lying on her back and staring at the ceiling.

The covers were up to her waist, revealing a sleeveless green t-shirt. She turned to look at him and he quickly turned away.

"What?" she asked.

"Nothing....." he answered. "You know Danny's a pretty lucky guy..." he laughed

"Why do you say that?"

"Michelle's pretty hot....." he added as Mac threw him her pillow right in the face.

He started laughing and threw it back at her.

"You are such a guy!" she said.

"Well thank you, I am proud of it." he grinned widely. "That's what guys do. they look at beautiful women. I'm sure you check out the guys too...." he smiled as Mac's cheeks turned pink.

"I do...." she said shyly.

"Really.....like who?" Billy said lifting his head up a little. "Danny's a very handsome man....Eric's the sweet type and Jason's very hunky...." he teased.

"Shut up." she told him as he started laughing again.

She turned off the lights and turned her back to him again. Billy glanced over at her and then smiled to himself.

--------------------------------------------

"Alright...you know what you're doing right? Please tell me you do...." Pilar begged Dietz grabbing his arm.

"It's gonna be fine Pilar. Trust me." Dietz answered back.

"That has gotten me into trouble in the past." Pilar dryly replied.

Her eyes softened and Dietz smiled. Pilar looked at him like she had seen an alien. Never in her life had she seen Dietz smile. It might be a strange thing but he always had a seriousness that never seemed to leave him.

"You know what you have to do now...." dietz added.

"yes....but what if it doesn't work?" She asked him worries in her eyes.

"It's going to work. It has to work. You have to convinve Danny.....and Carmen...I will take care of the rest." he said.

After these words, he left the room. Pilar sat on the bed beside her and picked up the phone. With teary eyes she looked down at it and thought for a while.

"It has to work...." she repeated whispering. "It has to.....Greta's life depends on it."

-----------------------------------------

It was early morning, the rain had stopped but the sun was weak, a feeling they all seemed to share at the moment. Cassie was looking outside from the kitchen window. Jason came in and handed her a bowl of cereal. Cassie looked at him strangely then smiled and took the bowl. They both sat down on the couch and started eating when Danny came in the door.

"Hi." Cassie said softly.

"Hi." Danny replied smiling.

"How is Michelle doing?" Jason asked.

Danny was about to answer when Michelle painfully walked into the room. she smiled to Cassie and Jason and lovingly took Danny's hand into hers.

"I'm fine....better." she rectified with another smile.

Cassie got up and carefully hugged her.

"Are you sure you're feeling ok....do you want to sit down?" Cassie asked pulling a chair for Michelle.

Michelle softly laughed and sat down.

"I'm fine..." she laughed.

Danny fixed himself a cup of coffee and brought one to Michelle, giving her a tender kiss on the forehead.

"How is Eric?" Michelle asked on a sad note.

-------------------------------

Jason helped Michelle up the stairs. She slowly made her way towards Eric's bedroom. On her way she stopped and stared in a mirror and a small tear fell from her eyes. The small bandage on her forehead was only masking the wound but not the pain. Her lower lip was swollen a little and her left cheek was bruised. She closed her eyes at the thought of what they might have done to Greta. If they were willing to hurt her like this, she wouldn't even dare to think about what they could have done to her friend.

Michelle knocked on Eric's door and he came to open it. She saw on his face the worries and the fears for Greta's life.

They both talked a lot about Greta. Michelle could hear in his voice how much he cared for her. If only they knew where to look for her, or how to get to her, but they didn't. Danny wasn't able to contact neither Dietz or Pilar and Carmen would be no help since they all knew she was behind it all.

Michelle was standing near the window in Eric's room and she stared outside. Eric came closer and asked what she was staring at and Michelle couldn't explain it.

"I don't know....Has anyone gone into that shed outside?" she asked thoughtful.

"Not that I remember no. Why?" he asked her.

Michelle didn't answer right away. She couldn't help but have this strange feeling whenever she looked at that shed. She turned around and tried to forget about it.

"Nothing...." she smiled.

---------------------------------

Greta was staring at the wall in her secluded room when she hear footsteps in the corridor. she quickly got up and rushed to the door. Her heart stopped when she saw who stood before the small square window.
