Sean wined and dined Carmen until she was so totally relaxed that she sent Dietz back to the hotel room to check on things at home. She was totally convinced that Sean was who he said he was, and that he would be her ally in the baby black market. She was also hoping that he would be her ally in the bedroom, later tonight if she was lucky.
So far, during their dinner at the elaborate restaurant, hed gotten her to admit to several illegal activities in the states, as well as her bearer bond smuggling operation in San Cristobel, all of which were preserved for posterity by the recording device in his jacket. The sun was beginning to set, so Sean removed his sunglasses and leaned across the table toward Carmen. He needed to get her to admit to conspiring with Edmund to get rid of Prince Jonathan. That information was crucial to Richards plan.
Carmen stared across the table at the man she knew as Sean Scanton. His eyes pierced her soul, and stirred feelings inside her that she hadnt felt in many, many years. In her mind, she retreated briefly to the small café where she and her secret lover used to rendezvous. She remembered the way he would lean across the table, looking at her so lovingly, gently letting her know that he was ready to leave their table and find a more private setting. She hoped with all her heart that Sean wanted that tonight. She needed to feel a mans arms around her. She needed to feel safe the way he had made her feel all those years ago.
"Carmen," Sean said seductively, "would you dance with me?"
Carmen felt blood coursing through her veins at record speed. Her pulse quickened, and she felt faint.
"Id be delighted," she managed to say before Sean took her hand and led her to the dance floor.
As they danced, Sean continued staring into Carmens eyes. He was determined to break down the barriers and get her to tell him what he needed to hear. She pressed her body close to him, and purposely let her breath fall heavy on his neck.
"Its obvious that theres more going here than just business," Sean said.
Carmen said nothing, but began pressing hot kisses on his neck.
"I must tell you, that Ive been taken advantage of before," Sean said. "Ive been the victim of sexual temptation far too many times."
"My advances are purely for pleasures sake," Carmen said, continuing to kiss his neck. "I have no intentions of using your sexuality to get something from you."
Sean decided to turn up the heat. He raised both hands and cupped her face. He leaned down and began gently nibbling her earlobe, while whispering softly to her.
"I need to be sure, before we go any further," he said. "If we take this to another level, Ive got to have some insurance that youre not going to turn on me."
Carmen could barely stand the feel of his tongue sliding around her ear. It had been so long since a man had made her feel this way. Ben had been a nice distraction, but in the end, he was nothing more than that. But the way Sean Scanton was making her feel right now, took her back to the time in her life when she was the happiest, and the most sexually satisfied, the time she spent with her lover. She let her defenses down, and decided to say whatever she had to him, to get him to make love to her.
"What do you want me to tell you," she asked, as Seans mouth moved to her lips.
He kissed her gently at first, slowly tracing the inside of her mouth. But then, as he felt the heat from her body, he became more forceful, sucking her tongue and pressing his mouth hard onto hers.
When he broke the kiss, he looked directly into her eyes, and said, "I want you to tell me the worst thing youve ever done."
She didnt care that telling him would break every moral code shed set for herself. She wanted him, needed him, and she would do whatever was necessary to have him.
"I helped kidnap the crown prince of this island," she said.
With that, Sean took possession of her mouth once more. He knew
she was a criminal and he knew that his job was to get the
information to bring her down, but God help him, he wanted her, and
somewhere in the back of his mind, he convinced himself that just for
tonight, he could pretend that he really was Sean Scanton.
