Danny came to see me today. He is hurt and confused. The hallmark of the Santos family. That�s all this family has brought to any of us. Hurt and confusion.
He wants out. He always has, but now he�s found something worth fighting for. Or should I say someone. Michelle has finally given him a real reason to go up against Carmen. Now You must give him the strength.
I took Danny into the confessional booth for our conversation. Knowing the details of the Santos family the way I do, I thought it would be best if everything he told me were in the confidence of the confessional. Yes, I hate the way they operate, but I would hate more if I were forced to give up details that could in some way hurt Danny.
So, I made sure our conversation was protected by the confessional.
I pray, in earnest Dear Father, that You will provide a way for Danny. I know his pain. I felt it myself. Neither Danny nor I can, in good conscience, stomach the activities of this family. Danny is fast approaching the time when he will no longer be able to look the other way, and pretend that all is justified. I know - I have been to that point myself. It is why I came here, to the protection of your Priesthood.
I knew that Danny would reach this point. He and I are, after all, cut from the same cloth, although the secret truth of how is now known only to me� and Carmen of course. But Carmen has no idea that I am aware. It is my one trump card, that I will hold until it becomes absolutely necessary, but will not hesitate to use to save Danny�s life.
Danny deserves a life of his own choosing, a life which will make him happy. Please find a way for him. Please protect him and the woman he loves. Give him the life that I could not have.
