3 classes of arhat: "Shrotaapanna", Stream Winner / Enterer; "Sakridagamin", Once Returner; "Anagamin", Never Returner;
arhat: A term used primarily in Theravada Buddhism to signify a person who has fulfilled its
ultimate goal, the attainment of nirvana. Upon death, the arhat will become extinguished. The
arhat, as an individual, has attained full enlightenment, peace and freedom. This should be
contrasted to Mahayana Buddhism, in which the ultimate goal is to become a bodhisattva--someone
who uses the power they gain from enlightenment to help others.
bhagavate: Supreme Personality of Godhead, Blessed one; in Chinese translation- World Honored One. Bhaga- opulence; van- processing.
The lord as the processor of all opulence -riches, strength, fame, beauty, knowledge and renunciation.
dharani: an invocation, a long mantra, which has magical powers in its recitation.
HUM: Vajra power or Vajra energy
mantra: magical-formula or invocation with occult power of sound.
Om (AUM): means oneness with the Supreme, the merging of the physical being with the spiritual.
The most sacred syllable, the first sound of Almighty. This scared syllable appears as a
mystic sound, regarded as the basis of every other mantra. It is the sound not only of
origination but also for dissolution. The past, present and future are included in this one
sound and even all that transcends this configuration of time is also implied in OM.
Phat: known as the destruction Mantra. In this context, it is to destroy the outer, inner and
secret obstacles so that the practitioner may have success.
samyak sambuddha: Perfectly Self-Awakened One. "Samyak", proper and equal; "sambuddha", right enlightenment.
sugata: well-attined, Well Gone or Well Departed. Having gone to the world of enlightenment. One
of the ten honorable titles of a Buddha. One has eliminated earthly
desires with power of wisdom and attained the stage of Buddhahood.
Tathágata: the 'exalted One', Literally, the one who has 'thus (tayatha) gone(gate)', or 'thus come', is an
epithet for a Buddha.
