A while ago on the MagicTalk Discussion Forum, Jason Y-H had the idea to compile a list which would detail the first steps of a cardician to the very last. It would be a collection of essential card sleights, with a rating which would show the level of difficulty and how essential the sleight was.
The list would be only for cards, since a total sleight list would be a truly impossible task.
 

The second idea:

The other idea of his was to compile the ultimate list of books and videos essential for any cardician. This would have the same rating system as the other list, showing the level of difficulty and how essential the book was. This list would also be only for cards, but including books that deal only partly with cards.
 

The project:

So me and Jason set forth to compile these lists. Realizing that this was a task too big for us, since neither of us have all books in existence and neither of us know all the sleights in the world, I created this page. While this site wasn't really intended for articles like this, at least we had a firm place to publicise the project.

So I have created 2 message boards on this site, where you can post your ideas for the sleight list and for the book/video list.
