Spring 2000: Marisa tells Buckle...

I was born, raised and still live in Southern California. Being a California native, which is hard to come by in the business, keeps it "real" and true, always remembering who I am and where I came from. At the age of 13, a talent scout took a Polaroid of myself into a Los Angeles modeling agency. I was in shock that the agency wanted to work with me. I was so shy and it was scary to think what I would have to do if I ever booked a job. At this time, I was attending a private all-girls high school with only 500 students. I was also becoming very involved with activities such as yearbook staff and drill team. I began going to auditions after school and at lunch, whenever I could squeeze them in. By the time I was a senior, work had progressed and I was working at least a few times a week on department store ads, commercials and teen magazines. My high school was very strict and would not allow many absences, but I was able to go to school, work and still be involved in activities. Going to an all-girls school was not the most comfortable experience for me because of the way I was treated by other girls. So, I loved staying busy. The money was easy and great because I was able to help my mother out by paying for my school uniforms, prom dresses, etc. After the start of college, I decided to do something I never thought of doing alone: traveling. I spent time modeling in Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Italy and Hong Kong. After gaining so much life experience and realizing modeling in other countries is a much faster pace lifestyle, I returned to L.A. With six years in the business under my belt and working for so many companies such as Vidal Sassoon, Skechers, Levis, Coca-Cola, the Buckle, etc, I overcame most of my shyness and had developed. It was suggested that I take acting classes. I had found a new passion. Soon after I landed guest roles on USA High, Bold and The Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and am currently hosting MTVs Senseless Acts of Video. I hope this will be the beginning of a long and prosperous career of film and television. I like spending extra time visiting family (especially my one year-old brother), cooking, watching movies, bowling, etc. Im not a wild and crazy kind of chick just very laid back, easygoing and actually very clumsy.
