Markers in breast cancer

Steroid receptor coactivator-2
(SRC-2)

Other name(s)

Glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein 1 (GRIP1) (Hong H. et al., 1997)
Transcriptional intermediary factor 2 (TIF2) (Voegel J.J. et al., 1996)
Nuclear receptor coactivator-2 (NCoA-2)

Molecular biology

Gene: maps to ?
mRNA: size: 9.1 kb (Anzick S.L. et al., 1997).
Protein:

Breast cancer

Cell lines:
- By Northern blot analysis, expression of SRC-2 mRNA remained relatively constant in four ER-alpha-positive (BT-474, MCF-7, ZR-75-1, T-47D) and six ER-alpha-negative (MDA-MB-361, -436, -468, -453, BT-20, and UACC-812) BCC lines (Anzick S.L. et al., 1997).

- In a ligand-independent manner, the estrogen-related receptor (ERR) alpha-1 activity in SK-BR-3 BCC was induced 3-fold by cotransfection with a GRIP1 coactivator expression plasmid. The organochlorine pesticide toxaphene was found to be capable of suppressing the GRIP1 coactivator-induced ERR alpha-1 activity in these BCC (Yang C. and Chen S., 1999).
