Markers in breast cancer

Repressor of estrogen receptor
activity (REA)

Molecular biology

Gene: maps to ?.
mRNA: size: 1.4 kb (Montano M.M. et al., 1999).
Protein: a 37-kDa estrogen receptor (ER)-selective coregulator. Its competitive reversal of steroid receptor coactivator 1 (SRC-1) enhancement of ER activity and its direct interaction with liganded ER suggest that it may play an important role in determining the sensitivity of estrogen target cells, including breast cancer cells, to antiestrogens and estrogens (Montano M.M. et al., 1999).
