Cell lines:
- N-cadherin has been found in the MDA-MB-435, -436, BT549, Hs578T breast cancer cell (BCC) lines. All these BCC lines are invasive, express
vimentin, and do not express
E-cadherin. N-cadherin was not found in MCF-7, BT474, MDA-MB-361, -453, -468, SK-BR-3, CAMA-1 BCC lines. These lines are less invasive and do not express
vimentin and
cadherin-11. Thus, N-cadherin expression could be restricted to less differentiated BCC (Hazan R.B. et al., 1997; Pishvaian M.J. et al., 1999).
Tumors:
- In a series of 183 cases of invasive breast carcinoma examined by immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections, expression of N-cadherin did not correlate with patient survival (Peralta Soler A. et al., 1999).
