Markers in breast cancer

Interleukin-18
(IL-18)

Other name(s)

Interferon-gamma-inducing factor (IGIF)

Molecular biology

Gene: IL-18 maps to 11q22.2-22.3 (Nolan K.F. et al., 1998)
mRNA: size: 1.1 kb (Ushio S. et al., 1996).
Protein: precursor: 192 aminoacids (aa); mature protein: 157 aa (18-19 kD). Interleukin-18 could be a potent angiogenesis and tumor suppressor (Cao R. et al., 1999).
