Markers in breast cancer

Inversely Correlated with Estrogen
Receptor Expression-1 (ICERE-1)

Other name(s)

ICERE-1 (Thompson D.A. and Weigel R.J., 1998) and DFNA5 (for Deafness, Autosomal Dominant Nonsyndromic Sensorineural 5) genes are probably the same (Van Laer L. et al., 1998).

Molecular biology

Gene: DFNA5 maps on chromosome 7p15. It measures approximately 60 kb and contains 10 exons.
mRNA: size: 2.2 kb (Thompson D.A. and Weigel R.J., 1998).
Protein: a 496-amino acids protein is deduced from the DFNA5 cDNA sequence.

Breast cancer

Cell lines:
- ICERE-1 mRNA was found in ER(alpha)-negative but not in ER-positive breast cancer cells (Thompson D.A. and Weigel R.J., 1998).
