Gene: maps to 1p13.3-21, which is frequently altered in human breast cancer. Up-regulation of DAM1 mRNA is associated with gene amplification in MCF-7 (10-fold) and BT-20 (5-fold) breast cancer cells (Nagasaki K. et al., 1999). mRNA: size: 1.3 kb (Nagasaki K. et al., 1999). Protein: 26 kD (Nagasaki K. et al., 1999).
