UFC 4 -- Revenge Of The Warriors

FIRST ROUND

Vs.

Royce Gracie Vs. Ron "the black dragon" Van Clief

WINNER: Gracie by choke. Royce comes back in, true to form and takes the one dimensional standup fighter down and chokes him out.

Vs.

Keith "the giant killer" Hackney Vs. Joe Son

WINNER: Joe Son comes in carrying Kimo's cross from ufc 3. During the fight he taunts Hackney who ends up taking him down and pounding him in the "nether regions". Like the picture? I was legal back then. Hackney eventually catches Joe Son in a choke and wins. Interesting note here...watch for Joe Son as Dr. Evil's henchman Random task in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. He throws the shoe...

Vs.

Steve Jennum Vs. Melton Bowen

WINNER: Jennum takes down a boxer and pounds him for a while. To his credit Bowen was a lot tougher that most people thought he would be. He did put up a good fight untill Jennum caught him in an armbar. Jennum would not continue.

Vs.

Dan "the beast" Severn Vs. Anthony "mad dog" Macias

WINNER: Severn came in and threw Macias around for a while before catching him in a choke. Very exiting. The debut of the Beast really gets the ball rolling for great things from him.

SEMIFINALS

Vs.

Keith "the giant killer" Hackney Vs. Royce Gracie

WINNER: Gracie had a hard time getting Hackney down but when he did he was able to get an armlock on and win by submission. Gracie advances to the finals yet again.

Vs.

Dan "the beast" Severn Vs. Marcus "grasshopper" Bossett

WINNER: Once again Dan "the Beast" Severn tears the hell out of his opponent. In coming in Bossett said that he was there to show the kids they can do anything if they believed in themselves. Severn was there to show that you can swat a grasshoper without really getting your hands dirty. (get it? Bossett's nickname was grasshopper...)

FINAL

Vs.

Royce Gracie Vs. Dan "the beast" Severn

WINNER: This one scores as one of the best fights ever in the octagon too as Gracie hangs tough and ends up sumitting the 60-80 pounds bigger Dan Severn. At the time, this broke the record for the longest match in UFC history. Appareently when originally broadcast this forced the show over two hours and the people who got the pay per view missed the last five minutes of it. Ouch.

Back on top. Next step for Gracie...the superfight with Shamrock.
