UFC 2 -- NO WAY OUT

UFC 2 saw some familiar faces come back for a 16 man tournament this time. Gracie and Pat Smith came back as the only two from UFC 1 fighting in UFC two and ended up facing each other in the finals. Not too shabby. It's back in Denver, Colorado and Smith the hometown boy. Of interesting note...this Big John Mcarthy's first UFC. Back in the day he had no authority to stop the fights. Interesting, eh? We also are introduced to Jeff Blatnick as a commentator. Here we go...

FIRST ROUND

Vs. Sean Daugherty (looking for pic)

Scott Morris Vs. Sean Daugherty

WINNER: Morris chokes out Daugherty in one of the matches that takes place before the UFC cameras start to roll. Morris will go on to better things as a major highlight reel for the UFC Daughterty is never heard of again.

Vs. Ray Wizard (looking for pic)

Pat Smith Vs. Ray Wizard

WINNER: Smith chokes out Wizard. Again...this is before the cameras rolled.

Vs.

Johnny Rhodes Vs. David Levicki

WINNER: Rhodes wins in the longest fight in UFC history at the time. Once again, was not broadcast.

Frank Haymaker Vs. Thaddeus Luster

WINNER: Not televised. Haymaker wins but can't continue. Thus leading to the infamous entry of alternate Fred Ettish...

Vs. Robert Lucarelli

Orlando Weit Vs. Robert Lucarelli

WINNER: Orlando pounds the hell out of Lucarelli in a match not shown in the broadcast. They did have to show highlights later in the show. A real butt-stompin'.

Vs. Alberto Cerra Leon

Remco Pardoel Vs. Alberto Cerra Leon

WINNER: Another non televised matchup. Pardoel won by submission.

Vs. Scott Baker

Jason Delucia Vs. Scott Baker

WINNER: The last non-televised fight of the night. Delucia, who lost in an alternate fight in the first UFC wins by tapout from strikes.

Vs.

Royce Gracie Vs. Minoki Ichihara

WINNER: The first televised matchup of the night saw the defending champ beat the Japanese guy in no time with a choke/arm bar combo.

QUARTER FINALS

Vs.

Scott Morris Vs. Pat Smith

WINNER: The reason that Scott Morris look like he does in the picture above is because of this fight. Smith takes him down and opens him up with some nasty elbows. Smith by KO.

Vs.

Johnny Rhodes Vs. Fred Ettish

WINNER: Are you kidding? Ettish becomes a posterboy for a UFC ass whoopin'. Johnny Rhodes keeps on down that road to the championship...

Vs.

Remco Pardoel Vs. Orlando Weit

WINNER: Pretty good match. Pardoel comes in saying he just wants to do well and ends up KOing the intense kickboxer from Africa with elbows.

Vs.

Royce Gracie Vs. Jason Delucia

WINNER: Royce pulls the armbar in no time at all. Word has it that fight was worked (faked) because Delucia was a student of Gracies at the time and didn't want to fight him. Sure was an easy victory for Royce. That's all I'm saying. Not sure if it is real or not? Check it out. It looks real to me. Could be that Royce is just better than delucia.

SEMIFINALS

Vs.

Pat Smith Vs. Johnny Rhodes

WINNER: Smith catches Rhodes in a choke. Rhodes was tired and Smith is fired up. It seems nothing can stop Smith..heh...

Vs.

WINNER: Gracie wins by a lapel choke. Pretty good match. Mostly a ground matchup.

FINALS

Vs.

Royce Gracie Vs. Pat Smith

WINNER: Gracie takes Smith down and smiths corner throws in the towell after a few punches. Gracie is the UFC champ once again.

Royce Gracie, champion of UFC 2. This time Royce got $60,000 for one nights work.
