Right now if you ask anyone who follows the sport who the number one heavywieght is this is the name you'll get. The man is a machine. His stocky build makes him almost impossible to submit and he punches REALLY hard. He is fairly abnormal for a top fighter because he fights in every Pride event. Normally big names fight in one and take the next off. Or if you are Mark Coleman you fight in a tournament and take 2 years off. He is a shiny example of why mma is the best sport in the world and why it trumps boxing in so many ways. Lennox Lewis is the heavy weight champ and he fights like twice a year. Igor fights 4 times a year and if someone else says they are the best...they throw down. He fought Mark Kerr (who at the time was referred to as the best mma had to offer) and KO'd him. The KO was eventually overturned because Igor used ilegal knees. A year and 3 months later he fought Kerr again and won a decision. He has won five 8 man tournaments and lost 2. His only two loses come in tournaments. One to Mikhail Illoukhine in his first ever tournament and his most recent loss coming to Mark Coleman in the Grand Prix 2000 finals. If you read the interview below you'll find that the thing he most wants in this world is a chance to get back at Coleman for that. Right now there is no one out there that poses a threat. I myself would like to see Fujita get a shot. Everyone knows Fujita can take a hell of a punch. That could be interesting. Check for more info below.

UPDATE 4/28/01

Ingor lost a decision to Tra Telligman in Pride 13 on March 25th. Early word has him facing off with Heath Herring (had never lost in Pride) in Pride 14 sometime late June.
