Mosly a talky movie this one came with DTS, which is always a plus. The sound is mostly in the front but every now and again shows up in the back. The highlight of the movie is the "fire" scene in which the only real thudd from the sub is heard. Mostly this is pretty tame. Makes you wondered why they even bothered with the DTS.
For a movie with DTS and Dolby Digital they really got a loaded deck here. There's a lame documentary about the making of it in which every talks about how much fun making the movie was and how great the director is to work with....snooze. Then there are some mediocre out takes and some deleted scenes. The deleted scenes have some sparkle in them but are understandably dismissed from the movie. The outtakes are all cases of the giggles. That's about it. There are an assortment of other things and the best part of the entire disc is the Universal Showcase. The Universal showcase has trailers for new Universal movies coming out. This one has a trailer for The new mummy movie and for Nicholas Cages new movie from the director of Shakespere in Love. The highlight is The Mummy 2 in FULLY DOLBY DIGITAL SUROUND SOUND. Very awesome. For the record I LOVED the first one and eagerly await the new one.
Decent movie, DTS, and Mummy trailers, oh my! I would have thought Ben Stiller and the director of the Austin Powers movies would have made a funnier all around movie but what are you gonna do? This is a pretty solid dvd for a lackluster movie. Still, it does have its moments.
Ben Stiller had a pretty good tv show a long time ago. He got a good chance to be fairly goofy and it was really entertaining. Now he has to sit straight through a good chunk of a movie to wait for a breif moment to relive that sillyness. Such is Meet The Parents. This movie is pretty much 5 or 6 pretty good Ben Stiller goofy skits padded by another hour and 20 minutes of movie. When he's not being funny this movie is actually fairly iritating. The fact that nothing goes right and that no one is on his side pisses me off. Even his perspective wife isn't on his side. It's just annoying when you see someone just getting dumped on with no real "everything happynow" ending. But I guess the point isn't that. The point is that Ben stiller has his moments and DeNiro does too. This is no Analyze This, but he has a couple of funny lines. Mostly DeNiro is wasted.
