    • Limit states can be classified into 2 categories:
    • ULS: Ultimate limit states
    • SLS: Serviceability limit states
  • ULS is the critical state that has long-term, permanent effects
  • SLS is the non-critical state with short-term, temporary effects

    • ULS are the critical transitions of our lives
    • As expected, ULS differ & are unique to the individual
