| The Friesland was built with a strangely old fashioned profile. The company's last clipper-bowed vessel and in fact, almost the last North Atlantic liner without a straight stem. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Friesland was launched on August 15, 1899 for the Antwerp-New York service, but with a Belgian registry. In 1905 she was transferred to American Line. Her tonnage was then listed as 7,116 GRT. In 1910 the Friesland was renamed La Plata in Italy, but ownership was not shown in Lloyd's Register. In 1912 the La Plata, ex- Friesland was broken up. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
