Jerry Heston, the junior tailback who will own nearly every career rushing and scoring record before he graduates, plowed out 120 yards on the ground and surprise starter, Jim O'Connor, a sophomore, gained 60 to lead the Bulldogs, who capitalized on 13 West Texas fumbles. Drake recovered six of those bobbles, picked off a pair of passes and turned five of the Buffalo miscues into scoring plays highlighted by Scot Rainbolt's 54-yard interception return for the Bulldogs' final score. |
