Crosman 1077W Appearance The 1077W has obviously been modelled on the Ruger 1022 .22"LR rifle, which is all the more obvious when you look at the model numbers of the two. The 1077W has a hardwood stock, which is plain, with no chequering or white spacers. There is no raised comb, nor a cheekpiece, so the rifle is suited for left-handed as well as for right-handed shooters. The butt is finished with a hard black plastic butt plate, and the stock has been given a coat or two of lacquer to bring out the natural grain of the woodwork. The receiver is synthetic, as is the trigger. The barrel is held in a plastic sleeve, in which it slides to permit removal of stuck pellets. The plastic barrel sleeve is in turn sleeved by an unpolished blued steel shroud. The foresight is a wide square post, and is all plastic. The rearsight is a blued steel sprung leaf with a deep U notch. Elevation is adjusted by a plastic four position stepped slider. Windage is adjusted by simply loosening a screw and moving the rearsight laterally. I would recommend fitting a red dot or optical sight to the dovetail grooves in the receiver to get the best out of the rifle. Handling is superb; the rifle balances just in front of the trigger guard. The rifle comes readily to the shoulder in the same manner as a sporting shotgun. Loading & Firing You load a 12-gram CO2 powerlet into the fore-end by unscrewing the hefty end cap, placing the powerlet in, small end first. At this point it has been recommended that you place a U.S. One Dime or U.K. Five Pence piece or similar on top of the powerlet to aid piercing, then screw back in the hefty end cap. Fire the unloaded rifle once to confirm the powerlet has been pierced. Then load a 12 shot cylinder, and lock this in place in the removable dummy magazine. Firmly place the entire magazine-cylinder assembly into the magazine recess under the rifle. You may now fire the rifle by double action mode only. The DAO trigger has a predictable action to it, which aids precision. Safety There is a crossbolt in the front of the trigger guard that locks the trigger. Also included is a rather fiddley removable trigger-locking device.
