Something in the Rain

<Cecile>

It was raining, if you could call it that, it was more like mist then rain. This light rain aloud Cecile to escape to the gazebo in the relative safety that on one, would look for her outside. Thankfully her mother was napping and would not be looking for her for quite awhile.

Her mothers watchful eye had not left Cecile since the party at Lady Shipwash's. Cecile could hardly blame her mother; the events at the party had not left her mind even for a moment. From the moment she had had felt his touch to the moment they kissed. She had never felt the way she had when Lord Hastings had kissed her. There was so much emotion and though that was swimming though her head, she thought she might burst.

It would be much easier if only she had someone she could talk to. Her mother would be upset and might send her to another convent if she knew what had really happened that night. Cecile had not made any new friends in which she might have confidents in. There was only one person she wanted to speck with, Sophie Carnay. But she could not talk to or write to her, for poor Sophie was dead.

Sophie had died not long before Cecile had come to England. Cecile could remember those days with crystal clarity:

It had stared out as a bright day. Sister Magdalena had felt that an outing would do the girls some good. Since the start of the revolution the Sisters had severely limited the girl's outings. Despite the fact that the convent was surrounded by walls the Nuns had heard of attacks on monasteries and convents. They wanted to keep their girls safe.

Cecile and Sophie and gone walking in the woods. It was there favorite place to walk. They use to talked about the how there lives had changed, who they might marry, were they might live. But after Sophie's parents had been killed, pulled out of there bed and taken away, it had become clear that they were not likely to ever leave the convent again. Their conversation now consisted of what they might have done if they were to leave the convent.

Sophie often would say, "I will leave the convent and join the Scarlet pimpernel. We will fall madly in love and will rescues the people and take them to England. What a great adventure."

"Then you could come to see me sing at the Opera. I'll be a great star. Or maybe I'll join the revolution. And fight you." Cecile said picking up a stick and trusting it at Sophie. Screams and giggles fallowed. They played for hours. And then it happened, it started to rain, but this did not stop them they played tell they were soaking.

Finely Cecile relented, "You win, you win. Now let us go in side before the sisters get too angry with us." And in they when laughing all the way. They were meet at the door by Sister Magdalena and a large group of girl.

"Were have you two been? Dear lord you are soaked to the bone, you will be fortunate in deed of you two do not get a chilled."
