velvet divorce:

The severance of a marriage or intimate relationship without the usual acrimony and court battle over the division of assets and custody of the children.  On January 1,1993, Czechoslovakia, only 74 years after it's birth as a nation, split without any bloodshed into two separate countries---the Czech Republic and Slovakia---a velvet divorce.

Via Dolorosa:

The Via Dolorosa, "The Dolorous or Anguished way, the Way of the Cross," is the mile-long road in Jerusalem over which Christ carried the cross to Golgotha. It has also come to mean any painful path.

Veni,vidi,vici:

The laconic words of Julius Ceasar when he told his friend Amintius of his victory over Pompey's ally Pharnaces at Zela in 47BC; the phrase is Latin for "I came, I saw, I conquered".

Virgilian:

Virgil (70-19BC), called the Mantuan Swan because he was born near Mantua, Italy, is considered the greatest poet of ancient Rome and in medieval times was regarded as the wisest of poets, a magician and enchanter.  His name lives on, however, maily as a synonym for the simple, pastoral beauty described in his poetry, which is Virgilian or has a Virgilian charm.
