| Quotes | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sean on Sam: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I just wanted to allow whatever essence of goodness there is within me to come forth and to inhabit the role of Sam, because that's what he is: he's goodness, loyalty, decency; that, I think, is his function in the books" "I'm not really Sam......Nobody could be that good, that noble. He's just better than the rest of us. I'm a lot more Hollywood than Sam would ever be" "Sam is the personification - I should say Hobbitification - of loyalty and goodness" The qualities in Sam that I so admire are qualities that I think everyone has in them, and they are certainly the parts of myself that I'd want to focus on" |

| Dominic Monaghan on Sean: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Sean was probably the most famous person, in my mind, when I flew out there and was going to be in it......I would say that 'The Goonies' is in my top five films of all time, so meeting Sean was a thrill" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Barry M.Osborne on Sean: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Sean Astin is a wonderful choice for Sam because he brings a real joviality to the role, as well as empathy for Sam's struggles" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
