.band bio.
Longwave is a four-piece rock band formed in the early summer of 1999. The group combines ethereal guitars and strong melodic song structure to produce music that invites comparisons to Radiohead and the Smiths.
Based in New York City, Longwave has played in and around Manhattan's Lower East Side, working on a live show that is at once aggressive and sonically interesting. The group was invited to perform at the 1999 CMJ Music Festival and has since begun a touring schedule that regularly includes venues in Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and throughout upstate NY.
Endsongs is the band's first full-length album, released April 1st, 2000 on LunaSea Records. Produced and engineered by the band, Endsongs was recorded in the fall of 1999. Beginning with the pointed guitar introduction of "escape" and ending with the airy calm of "make me whole," Endsongs is both visceral and spiritual in its construction. Combining the textural and melodic elements of their live shows, Endsongs captures the band's unique strengths throughout.
