Dove's (Personal) Review:  As the title suggests, this a very "thought provoking" book. You'll also notice the question mark I put after the word "fiction" for this book's category. It's up to the reader to decide if it's fiction or non-fiction (hence the subtitle, "A Thought Experiment"). It'll all depend on how you feel about God; if you're strong in your faith or not. I found this particular piece of work, and the ideas shared within, very similar to the subject matter in Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code.
The basic plot of this book is very simple: an unsuspecting Delivery Man makes a scheduled delivery on his route. Shortly after he arrives at his destination, he finds himself submerged in a rather deep conversation with his customer. The customer, known only as "Avatar," is an old man who seems to have all the answers to life's greatest questions. This is where the "thought experiment" enters into play. It's up to the reader to decide which answers are legitimate, and which ones are totally bogus.
The entire conversation is wrapped around the concepts of God, belief(s) in religion, creation, evolution, and personal growth when the answers are found, and either accepted or unaccepted. It is definitely fascinating reading material, and I bet - if you decide to give it a try - you'll come across some questions that you've had trouble answering also. I'm sure you'll be very interested in some of Avatar's answers, as well as very surprised by some of them. It will - without a doubt - make you stop and wonder about all you've been taught through the years.
If you're interested in taking a look at it, here's a link to the eBook. It's a free download, so why not? Just click here to visit the Andrews McMeel Publishing website, then follow the instructions to download your copy. It's a PDF file, so it downloads pretty quick. It is also available as a "real" book, not just as an eBook. For those of you who insist on holding an actual book, you can find a copy on Amazon.com. Have fun!!!
