The Original Loretto Chapel Staircase

This is a photograph of the Loretto Staircase in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which has been computer-edited to show it without the banister which was added in 1887, 9 years after the original construction of the staircase.

The staircase took approximately 7 months to build, is held together with wooden pegs instead of nails, and was built by one carpenter working alone, using only:
