SRR Ra`KalenChapter Fifty-Eight: tr`Idran meets Raith
[Kalen]

Tasrek> ::pressing the door chime::

tr'Raith> Enter.

Tasrek enters a midsized quarters. The room is dark- lit indirectly by a blue console on the commander's desk. Raith throws his legs over the side of his bunk and lythly drops to the floor.

'What can I do for you Arrain?'

Tasrek is amazed Raith could see his rank in such low light but quickly replies.'I am informed, as is customary on most ships, that I should present myself before you, the captain of the ship.'

Raith grins as he approaches and sits at his desk. Again Tasrek is unerved- Raith's eyes glowing a bright yellow in the black light. tr`Idran moves to sit across the desk from the him... though Raith didn't gesture to the chair in any way, Tasrek felt he was being asked to sit.

Raith pulls out a small flask and pours a glass for the Arrain. 'I am glad that your parents are all right- I was concerned when that "accident" befell their comrade.' Raith pours himself a glass and leans back in his chair.

Another surprise... Tasrek pauses a second than asks' how do you know..?'

'About that? that is nothing- I read the agent's proposal last month- the Tal`Shiar is so bureaucratic.' Raith sips slowly at the glass and his eyes gaze up at the ceiling. 'Is there anything at all I can do for you?'

'I am not sure rekkhai... It is hard to say as I am not particularly aware what is entailed in the Naval advisor's post.' Tasrek says, after sipping from the drink.

'Well...you are effectively a strategic ops person. You are to accompany me to meetings involving the senior staff from now on. You will get to know all the other COs and get to work on many ridiculously redundant transfer files- and most of all you will make sure the Kalen is on the task she is assigned to... on a squadron level that is.' Raith reaches over and refills Tasrek's glass. 'Anything else?'

Tasrek> ::not sure why but he asks anyway:: I was not informed that most Rihannsu were trained in there psi abilities, rekkhai.

Raith> ::smirk and sip:: Most aren't. ::looking through Tasrek's personnel file:: I see I am not alone.

Tasrek> It would seem.

Raith> Anything else?

Tasrek> No, rekkhai. ::turning to leave::

Raith> Dismissed.

Tasrek leaves the room somewhat more enlightened. He finds an ops console on the bridge and begins to study the ship schematics as well as limitations.

*=\/=*

Tasrek left the bridge several hours after his meeting with the captain of his new vessel. He made a quick trip to the messdecks and then found a holodeck. He began to program the holodeck computer for something he had started on ch'Havran. The computer chimed as the program sprung to life.

He found himself in a dense wooded area near the ocean. His fighting instructor facing him. In a distinctly ch'Havran accent he announces.

Instructor> BEGIN!

Tasrek> ::gutteral noise::

Instructor> ::looks on::

Tasrek>::begins moving across the clearing with punches and kicks::

[a half hour later]

...the vibrations from the sonic shower hit him square in his newly bruised thigh. Tasrek flinches a bit but then settles into getting cleaned up. A few minutes later he is out of the shower and into a fresh uniform. Wondering about other things to do on the Kalen, he decides that some interaction may be just the thing. After all he hasn't so much as made any friends since he's been here, save the Elq fellow. Perhaps he would try to cultivate a friendship there. It couldn't hurt to have allies here. The PO though had him baffled. He had sensed a little pacifist under all those forward questions. He thought to himself "Enough of this...it is time to enjoy my new home". With that, he exits his quarters and make for the officer lounge.
