SRR Ra`KalenChapter One Hundred-Forty-Four:
The Briefing
[SNR-Ts`Irk : Briefing Room]

The Enarrain sat calmly at the head of the table. The crew was trickling in -mostly early, which he appreciated- and was taking seats around the room. When it was time, and all the command staff had arrived, Raith activated a three dimensional display on the table.

A huge star field, tinted green, crowds around the gathered officers. The image was quite impressive in the dark room and, as the tech was still new, several were caught off guard. The map tightens in on a specific system, galaticly south and east of the capitol, then further zooms until only a single huge sphere floats in the center of the table.

Raith clears his throat and begins to talk. "As you can all see, we are going to the 'Low Lands'. 52 hours ago, the system broke down completely and, after a shaky three month truce, several factions are vying for control. The NRR command has decided that now is the best moment for an injection of our influence over this 'wayward' state."

The soldier pauses and pans around the room. "As our military forces are spread too thin, we, the deployments of the Kalen and Ts`Irk, will be the only NRR troops involved in the conflict."

"Rekkhai... I mean no disrespect," Kuro calmly intoned -eyes locked on the display. "But what could so few troops hope to accomplish against such a large target?"

"Nothing in the traditional sense- I jump ahead- let me explain," Raith turns to face Kandeen, Kethry, and Idran. "You three will be joining my personal detachment. As the war is between fellow rebels, the Colonial government, and the Imperials, I will need your help keeping track of all the politics. I intend to sway at least one faction, excluding the Imperials, to our camp - and, with their aide, bring the system under our control. Meira, as we will be the 'home base group' your medical knowledge will undoubtedly be needed by incoming wounded."

Raith turns back to Kuro and continues," You, Elq, and Remi will be field bound." his fingers dance across the panel - creating illuminated regions on the map," there are several relevant targets to be eliminated on the planet - I expect you and your rangers to accomplish this."

"Additionally there is a more sensitive matter at hand here." The commander glances over to Nerik. "Three months ago, the Kalen-a SNR Ael`Khellian and Ra`Khore were sent to this region. They have not been heard from since, and from personal knowledge, Riov t`Brook and erie`Riov tr`Loose were both superb field commanders. Your job, and that of your detachment, is to find out what happened to the ships- and how we may retrieve them and their crews. Duk`Tuk," Raith gestures to a mild mannered Rei`Krannsu MP, "and tr`Shaleya will be accompanying you."

"The Ts`Irk, her crew, and reserve elements from our platoons will remain in orbit whenever possible. If fighting gets too rough on them, they will leave.... all is Understood?" seeing no major signs of misunderstanding the CO dismisses the crew and returns to some of his planning....
