[Wildstrike: Oira]
Rhagarokk sits on the Oira with only a scant few other crew. Since the
danger appears to have passed, the Leih has given most of the oira crew
permission to rest. He sits in his command throne, going through the odd readings he's been getting. Rylan, meanwhile, has stormed out of Medbay but decides to do his duty and head to the Oira.
Rylan steps out onto the Oira and takes a look around and seeing the
Leih, heads over to him. "DT should be alright in a few hours, rekkhai.
What, exactly, are we to do with that," takes a pause to point at the
inert Time Weapon, "now?"
Rhagarokk looks up from his side console. "Good question," he states,
"It's giving off some weird readings at the moment, but I dare not act
without the express written permission of at least one of these
intelligence agencies." He pauses to look up at the ship and asks, "So
everyone's back on board?"
Rylan kind of pauses, but shrugs and says, "Ah... well, all but io
security agent. He was shot." Brushing this aside, he takes a glance
over at the screen as well. "Weird readings, rekkhai? But we disabled
the shielding on that thing." Rylan grins, and adds "Pretty much
everything else too. And we managed to bring back some of it's data for
au." Rylan says with a hint of pride.
"Ie, and a fine job," Rhagarokk says assuredly, "but I think some of the conduits that bleed off some of the residuals chronitons were
damaged..." Then his ears catch up to his brain. "Data? Really? I..."
But before the Leih can get too excited, Tactical calls over that the
Ra'Kalen class SRR Karina was launching objects towards the Time Weapon.
Rylan turns to the officer and asks, "What kind of objects?"
"Either torpeodes or probes, I can't tell," responds Tac, "I've never
seen anything like them.
Rhagarokk, now interested, takes a look at his console. "Hey, I
recognize those..."
Rylan asks over, "Shields are up, just in case, correct?" Tactical nods
affirmative in response. Rylan turns back to the Leih and looks at him curiously. "I take it... they're probes, then?" he asks, as the Leih is strangely calm.
The Leih, at first, unsure of what to say, starts in slowly. "Umm... in
a sense. They're both probes and torpedoes. They're known as Theta
Torpedoes." A grin crosses the Leih's face. "Which means..."
Rylan, ignoring the Greek and the grin, gets panicked and looks over at
the Gonaiih. "We out of any blast range?"
The Gonaiih shakes his head negative. "From the size of the Weapon, we'd have to be clear out of the system to be out of blast range. Should I pull back more?"
The Leih continues to mutter to himself. "I knew he couldn't be dead.
I'd know."
Rylan, obviously confused, asks "They're aiming to destroy it?" He looks back at the Leih and tells the Gonaiih, (framing it into a question directed to the Leih) "Pull back...rekkhai?"
Rhagarokk, now obviously in a much better mood, responds "I'm na sure
what they're doing, but get back past the... Kal...Karina. I'm sure they would na blow themselves up."
Rylan grins as well and nods at the Gonaiih, before turning his
attentions back on the Leih. He asks quietly, "Who isn't dead?"
Rhag glances over at the young XO, slightly surprised at this interest.
"My... umm... cousin. He's the only other io who has the technological
sophistication to build and maintain those."
The two pause to watch the Thetas get close to the disabled Imperial
ship. Rylan asks finally, "And what, exactly, do those things do? Au
said it was both torpedo and probe..." He shrugs while continuing,
"Besides blowing stuff up, I mean."
Rhagarokk, heavily resisting the urge to go into a full blown lecture,
explains "Well, that's the point of the Theta. To serve any function
necessary. It could be going to blow it up, scan it, or replicate it
some dinner."
Rylan shakes his head, "Oh what fun, a guessing game. When will we have
an answer?"
Sensors suddenly light up as the Time Weapon begins to shake from a
series of explosions.
The bard's tongue younger man looks slightly stunned. "...Never mind. It was door number 1." He looks over to the Leih and simply shrugs. "At
least we got some data."
A quick check on the shields and Tactical responds, "Just some stray
particles and radiation, but shields are blocking it all just fine."
Rhagarokk shrugs. "We've got the data, and succeeded in our mission
after all. Na a bad day, all around. Tac, monitor the area for any
further dangers. Rylan, contact the Hydra and ask for further orders."
"Ie rekkhai," responds the XO as he heads over to the com to plug the
earpiece in."
The Hydra responds with a simple curt "Ie?"
"Well, ninte timeship's gone. Further orders?" Rylan responds
informally.
There is a pause on the Hydra's end, before the com comes back with "The Leih has some further matters to address here. He says to prepare for Action 18, and to head back to ch'Rihan for further orders. Hydra out."
Rylan turns and relays "They're telling us to prepare for something
called action 18, rekkhai. We're to go back to ch'Rihan and receive
further orders."
Donalh looks puzzled. "Action 18? I should probably know what that is.
While I look it up, say goodbye to our other two friends in the system.
Gonaiih, set course for home... ch'Rihan." The Leih starts going over
his personal files for the reference.
The ship's crew does their duty in short order, and before too long
Rylan says "Ship's have been informed, we're in the go ahead."
Rhagarokk looks up, gestures forward, and states, "Engage." He breathes
a big sigh of mixed disappointment and relief. The disappointment in
not being able to see Ragarok again, the immense relief and not having
to interact with Raith 6...
As the SRR Morrhae'vnu turns to prepare to jump to Transwarp, were there to be sound in space, it would be a clear "Crackle"
Inside, however, discussion was still continuing about the Wildstrike's
future...
"Ah, here it is..." says the Leih. His face drops from happy to stunned. Rylan, meanwhile, spins around in his happy swivel chair, like a kid sitting at a candy counter.
"Ie? What is..." he paused after seeing Donalh's expression, "...it?"
"Action 18 is..." dramatic pause, "An all-out war with the Federation."
Rylan's jaw drops slightly, before he recovers and asks, "Shall I call
the staff to the briefing room, rekkhai?" His hand hovers over the ship
wide com button.
Rhagarokk waves his hand. "Na yet. Every-io needs a rest before we get
our battle orders. Just when I thought it couldn't get more complicated."
And as the Morrhae'vnu makes the jump into Transwarp, the crackling
increases. The Leih had no idea how complicated it was going to get.
