SRR Morrahe`VnuChapter Seventy-Three: Science Report
[On the Wildstrike....]

In the Chronal Cartography Lab, erie'Eredh tr'Nigh is working quickly on compiling everything his men give him, when the lab's door opens. Rylan enters, looking more then a little tired from climbing the ladder - first up to unlock the door for Katara, then back down to get to the lab. "Okay! What've au got for me now? Anything?" he asks hopefully.

"Quite a bit, actually rekkhai." tr`Nigh nods in reply.

Sinking into a chair, Rylan smirks, "Great! Let's hear it." and immediately hopes whatever tr`Nigh's about to say isn't laced with technical terms over his head.

"Well...we weren't sure the extent of it before," tr`Nigh begins, "but there's io importat fact au should know right off the bat..."

"Ie?" Ry questions, his brow rising slightly.

tr`Nigh takes a moment to clear his throat. "There's na Federation."

"Na Federation? At all?" A small grin forms on Rylan's face, "And this is bad, how...?"

"Well...umm...." tr`Nigh stammers a moment, "From what we can tell, without there being a Federation, t`Kazon never took control of the Rihannsu Star Empire." He pauses a moment to see the 'so?' look on the RS's face, then explains with a shake of his head, "Without her taking control, and without there being a Federation to fight, there was na SF/RSE war that sparked the Republican revolution."

"Ah!" Rylan nods, finally seeing the downside, "Okay....that's a bad thing." he waits a bit then asks, "Any io else that seems to have disappeared? The Klingons? The Cardassians? What else has changed?"

"Unfortunately, there's a limited amount of information available." tr`Nigh explains, "The data networks are na very complete here. Na io else seems to have been erradicated completely. The Romulan Star Empire seems to be in a centuries-long period of stagnation, which is na helped by attacks from barbaric Klingon/Gorn ship tribes."

"And so, now we're stuck in the isolationist period?" Rylan shakes his head a little forelornly, "Are we at least still picking up signals of the origin of what started all this, and how do we get things back to normalicy?"

Frowning, tr`Nigh tries to avoid eye-contact altogether, "A massive surge of chronitions like that required is very easy to track using our sensors. Unfortunatly...." he trails off.

After a pause, Ry presses impatiently, "Unfortunatly...what, exactly? Is the signal there or na?"

"There's a signal, ie..." tr`Nigh nods, "It's just that... well..." he stammers a bit more.

"The sensors?" Ry asks dismally. "We can always divert power from somewhere, I suppose..." he shrugs, then lights up, "Or send a probe of somesort. The Science departments always have those lying around, right?"

"Na, na the sensors..." tr`Nigh shakes his head, "It's that the Time Weapon isn't here. In this timeline. Its signal and where it was are here, but as for the apparatus itself...na sign."

There was a long, thoughtful pause on Rylan's part as that bit of news sank in. "Okay...so... how do we get back then?"

tr`Nigh coughs nerviously, "If it were a matter of someone jumping back in time and killing someone's grandfather, we'd just go back and stop them."

"And Kazon isn't here at all...." Ry surmises, "Or at least the her in the now isn't the problem. And if we killed her here, in this now, that's na going to help us get back. That's what au`rh saying, isn't it?"

"Uh...ie. Basically." tr`Nigh nods, "I mean, Kazon, our Kazon, eliminated an entire star power, and we're na quite sure how she did it. If it just involved, say, killing Zefram Cochrane, we could probably determine that. But it wasn't that...." he begins to launch into the technobabble that Rylan had so dreaded, "The Time Weapon uses some odd calculation to determine a probabilistic focal point in the flow of time from which some crucial element can be blasted out of the continuum in order to produce a desired result." he stops and takes a breath, then notices Rylan's rather blank stare. Sighing, he says simply, "We don't know what she did or how she did it and how we make it better."

"Oh, just great." Rylan sighs, then is startled as all the computers light up as "Timeline Restored" is printed on all the monitors and the entire ship is bathed in blue light. Grinning, Ry nods his head toward the message displayed on a nearby computer screen, "Well, either way...looks like au fixed it." the grins dies as he looks back at tr`Nigh and he adds hopefully, "Right?" tr`Nigh doesn't answer, only looks at the terminal and scratches his head.

Suddenly, the ship shakes violently as several pannels blow out. Tapping his badge Rylan calls out, "Oria? Status?" and hears the Leih's voice coming back.

"Report to the Oria immediately!"

"Ie, rekkhai." Ry runs out the sci-lab door and through the hall. "On my way..." Tapping the badge once more, he hurridly tells ops to turn on TL 5 and hops a lift. Compling to that, tr`Stol goes a step further and gives it some extra juice as well. Holding the walls at the unexpected speed of the lift, Ry quickly steps out on to the Oria as the doors open. Passing off a look and a quietly sarcastic, "Hann`yyo...." to tr`Stol, he hurries over to stand beside the command throne "Reporting, rekkhai..." and suddenly stops to stare at the viewscreen.

"Holding onto his command throne as the ship rocks again, Rhagarokk answers, "Congratulations to au and the science department... but next time can we NA come out in the middle of a Klingon battle?" he motions at the viewer." Shrugging apologetically, Rylan bites back the 'we didn't do it' before it escapes. "Condition Red! Battle Stations!" he turns to Rylan again, "The Temporal cloak failed as we shifted, and our shield didn't go up before a stray disruptor bolt damaged the shield generators...."

Moving to the ops station, Ry elbows some room from tr`Stol at the consol, and shuts down a few sci labs, diverting all the power they had reserved for the Temporal Cloak to the weakening shields, and knows it's not going to work, "It won't take but a few more well-placed hits, rekkhai! We've got to move out of here!"

"Then work on getting transwarp drive back online!" Rhagarokk shouts back, "Helm, use every trick au`ve got to get us out of here!"

Rylan, trying to do what he can for the transwarp drive, hears the tactical officer calling out the count-down to doom: "Shields at 10%.....3%....Shields down!!"

A moment later, light swirls on the Oria as 5 Klingons materialize. The Guards at the back suddenly spring into action, blocking the Leih from the Klingon's disruptors. A quick fight ensues, as various officers draw their side arms and fire at the invaders. Rylan, ducking and dodging bolts of disruptor blasts, still diligently tries to get the transwarp drive back online, shouting angrily at the officers down in engineering over the noise of the battle on the bridge. The Helm officer, piloting the ship in a wildly zig-zagging pattern trying to shake the Klingon ships off their tail, is miraculously not hit by any blasts. "Rhagarokk to all decks..." the Leih shouts through the com, "Intruder alert, all decks! Dispatch with Klingon intruders immediatly, repeat intruder alert!" The tactical officer is vaporized, and three of the Oria crew are injured, but the Klingons were dispatched.

As the last two Klingon's fall, Rylan grins widely, "Got the transwarp back!" he calls out, rather pleased with himself.

Grinning at hearing that bit of news, Rhagarokk nods at helm, "Punch it before they get reinforcements!"

Helm, grinning in relief as well, calls out a happy "Ie rekkhai!" and activates the transwarp drive..
