[In the Wildstrike's bar]
Finding the bar was easy enough. It had been on the same deck as his son's
quarters. Intent on looking for a way to get free alcohol, Rohal
tr`Rekkohan heads in, and spies the girl that had been in D`Tarik's room
before. Walking by a table occupied with a man and a woman, Rohal drops a
credit, then bends down to pick it up; deftly picking the man's pocket as he
does so. Having years of practice at that sort of thing his theft goes by
unnoticed by his mark, and he continues his walk toward the bar.
Katara, who had earlier asked the computer to locate Rylan and learned he
was not on the ship, had been hopeing that the newcomer was the erie`Arrain.
Smiling, she stands up once again after hooking up the new keg to replace
one of the empty ones, then sees that it hadn't been Rylan at all, but the
old man instead. Raising a brow slightly, her smile disappearing, she asks,
"Ie? Can I help au?" and silently wonders where D`Tarik was.
"Ie." Rohal smiles. Looking clean now, he actually had a certain charm
about him, "D`Tarik said I could use his tab to order a few drinks."
Knowing how D`Tarik felt about the use of alcohol, Katara smiles almost
slyly, "Ie? Citrus, soda, or water, rekkhai?"
Almost 'reading' the meaning behind her smile, Rohal pauses a moment to
glance at the setup behind the counter. He orders a rather difficult mixed
drink that is alcohol free, thinking that she wouldn't know how to make it.
Katara nods then gathers the ingredience to mix the requested drink. The
task coming more then easy to her as she had been mixing drinks since she
was eight years old. While the girl is turned to face the mixer, her back
to Rohal, he reaches over and grabs a bottle of Rhennish in each hand, and
puts them in his coat pockets before anyone was the wiser.
Having grown used to listening for that familar soft, 'clink' of the bottles
as they are being stealthily removed from Rylan's own attempts, Katara knows
what the man just did, but doesn't say anything. Still slightly unnerved
from the incident in D`Tarik's quarters previously, she wanted nothing more
then for the senior tr`Rekkohan to just take his drink and get out.
Turning, she puts the mixed drink in front of him wordlessly, her eyes
briefly looking at him in disapproval before she quickly looked away again.
Catching that disapproving glance he realized that the girl knew what he
done. Rohal paused a moment, but since the girl didn't accuse him of
anything he only smiled at her, and sipped the drink she had set before him.
"Anything else?" she asks, purposefully not saying rekkhai this time.
Rohal finishes the drink she had made and shakes his head. "Na. I have to
go meet D`Tarik. He and Emni wanted some time alone." he smiles at her in
almost a leering way, making Katara take an uncertain step back from him.
Rylan, chose that moment to walk into the bar to keep his promise of taking
Katara to the Station, and paused seeing the couple sitting at the table.
Believing that she had closed the bar today, Rylan wonders about the
possibility that D`Tarik had told the barmaid about him not really talking
to the Khensia after all. Prepared to hear the girl tell him she changed
her mind about going to the station, he hesitantly stepped forward to the
bar, raising his brow at seeing the barmaid back away from the man who had
been on the Station. D`Tarik's father stands away from the counter himself,
and heads out, walking towards Rylan. Stepping in front of him, Rylan asks
curiously in a friendly tone, "What are au doing here?"
"Oh!" Rohal stopped, "It's au...my son's friend. Jolan`tru." he smiled,
"D`Tarik brought me on board to get cleaned up, and now I'm going back." he
bows his head and walks around the boy.
"Wait a second old man..." Ry takes hold of his arm to stop him, "Au can't
just walk around on the ship by ninte-self. Where's D`Tarik?"
"He's with Emni..." Rohal answers, narrowing his eyes slightly at the the
impertainence of the younger Rihan, "I just came here for a
drink....something..." he sniffs the air around Rylan, "I'm sure *au*
understand." he adds with a sly grin.
Rylan's eyes narrow at the old man, "I understand a lot of things..." his
words were quiet, but his free hand balls itself into a fist, "better than
au think I do. Including lying drunken old men like ninte-self." Ry grins
back at the elder, "I just came from DT`s room. Emni said DT wasn't
there."
"Au may na want to start a fight with an 'old man' like me....*boy*."
The couple sitting at the table over hear the quietly exchanged challenge,
and knowing that a fight was about to break out, they quickly stand away
from the table and leave. In a panic, Katara tries to raise D`Tarik on the
com, not wanting to call security and have them arrest Rylan as well.
Rylan, oblivious to the couple that left, sneered back at the elder, "I was
trained young how to defend myself from old farts like au, old man. Au
touch me...even io hand...and the people on this ship will have au killed.
I may only be a *boy*, but I am the RS of *this* ship."
Rohal doesn't look away from Ry's eyes, "And if au were in his room, then
Emni would be with au more then likely...am I right?"
Having no clue what that ment, Ry raises a brow and shrugs, "What? I
stopped there on my way to apologize before I came here." he informs the old
man truthfully, "I only just arrived back on this ship..."
Having overheard everyone talking about the boy's habit back in D`Tarik's
room, Rohal knew that everyone...including the girl behind the bar...was
against this one's drinking. Accusing the impertinent child loudly, he
agreed, "Ie! *Drinking* as I can smell!"
The ploy hadn't worked. He hadn't shut Rylan up at all. Only turning more
angry at that, Rylan warned him quietly, "What I do on my leave is na ninte
buisness old man. And even with a few in me, I could still put *au* on the
floor. The question here is...what are au doing running around on this ship
without an escort?"
Narrowing his eyes again, Rohal answered with a sneer, "About to kick ninte
ahz if au don't move."
Rylan chuckles at that, and steps slightly away from him, ready to swing if
the old man should take one step. Not noticing D`Tarik as the smaller boy
ran into the bar, holding a disruptor and pointing it at his father, Rylan
challenges the elder, "Want to really try old man?" he questioned,
grinning, "I've had my ahz kicked before...by tougher things then *au*! I
can take a *lot*!" then he asked with a mocking raise of his brow, "Can au?"
Rohal's eyes turned to see his son pointing the weapon at him, "Ah,
D`Tarik. I know this boy here," he motions towards Rylan, "Has the nerve to
actually attack me, but au? Au don't have it in au to shoot me." he
chuckled, 'All either io of au kids ever were, was a burdon on me. I had
to quit my position because of au. My job was my life, and au took that
away! And then au weren't even around when I had retired. So look at me
now! All ninte and Sylah's fault. At least io of au is na longer a burdon
on me." he added with a mocking grin.
Rohal's words had been close enough to what Rylan's own father had said to
him all those years ago that -- for just a moment -- the man standing before
him was not D`Tarik's father, but his own. That one moment was all it took.
Rylan's face twisted into a mask of rage, and with an angred cry, he
launched himself at Rohal, knocking him down, and pinning him to the floor.
D`Tarik only stood aside, the weapon still aimed in a shaky hand, not moving
at all; silently watching as blood splattered, and bone snapped under the
repeated, rapid-fire assult of Rylan's fists against his father's face.
In a desperate move to get the enraged boy off him, Rohal reaches into his
jacket and grabs one of the bottles he had stolen from the bar and swings it
wildly. In a lucky shot, the bottle connected solidly against Rylan's
temple and shattered. The boy slumped sideways, knocked unconsious from the
blow. Royal moves to cut the boy's throat, and finds the hand that held the
jagged bottle was gone, vaporized by the shot that came from D`Tarik's
disruptor.
Grabbing his now-cauterized wrist with his other hand, Rohal turns his
battered and bleeding face to D`Tarik as the boy steps closer and drives his
boot into the shocked face of his father, knocking the man out cold.
Katara had run around from the bar, racing over to Rylan to see if he was
okay, but D`Tarik stopped her with, "Stand back and let me take a look at
him, Katara..." He rolls Rylan over, moving him off the elder man on the
floor. Kneeling down beside the taller boy, he runs a scan over him, then
puts a metallic strip on his temple. "He should regain conciousness in a
moment, then I can take care of the cuts from the glass." he smiles up at
the worried girl, "He'll be fine."
Katara nods, her arms crossed over her in worry, "I'm sorry..." she
apologized, frightened and confused by the whole thing, "I don't know why
he did that..."
"Don't worry." D`Tarik shakes his head, "It's okay...it needed to be done."
he looks back up at her, "Au know what au are doing. When he wakes up,
heal his cuts and remove the glass with these." he hands her a pair of
tweezers and a pen looking thing of his own design.
Katara accepts the instruments with a nod of her head, "Ie. Um...can I
move him at all? I don't want to leave him here on the floor..."
Thinking to himself that this is as good a time as any to start her
lessons...whether she wants them or not... he questioned, "Do au think it's
safe to move him? He's had a rather nasty blow to the head. But his
concussion is now starting to heal..." he tilts his head up at her, waiting
for an answer.
"Uh...shouldn't we wake him with a concussion?" she asks confused, "But...if
his neck and back are all right, I suppose he could be moved...I think..."
she looks frustraited with the whole thing, "I don't know! I'm na the
doctor!" she points an accusatory finger his way, "Au are!"
"Exactly." D`Tarik nods, "And with the concussion, waking him suddenly would
be bad...thus why that," he points to the metallic strip on Rylan's head,
"is waking him. Calm down Katara. I'm trying to teach au
something...whether au want it taught to au or na." he added with a sly
grin. "So..." he continues, "Ie. It's okay to move him."
Katara smiles relieved, "Hann`yyo..." then grins back, "I never said I
didn't want to be taught rekkhai." she shrugs, "Only I didn't want to have
to practise on Rylan first..."
"Good a time as any..." D`Tarik shrugs, "Au grab his feet, and I'll take
his shoulders." Together the pair lift Rylan and carry him to her own
living quarters through a door behind the bar. After leaving the boy down
on Katara's bed, D`Tarik heads back out into the bar. "Okay...we'll just
beam my dad back to the station..." he pauses in thought a moment,
"Hm..guess I should heal him first..." pulling up his pant leg, a small
'hiss' is heard as a small circle opens up on his leg. Pulling out a small
hypo with blue liquid in it, D`Tarik injects the medicine into his father.
"Okay...now let's get him beamed out of here."
Katara looks from the unconsious man to D`Tarik, "Are au sure? Au just
want to let him go? Na put him in the security cell?"
"Ie." D`Tarik shrugs, "He is my dad...I want to give him a bit of a chance."
he pauses in thought a moment, "Actually, I have a better idea..." Taping
open a line to the ops on the Station, he announces, "We have a stow away
on our ship from ninte station. Can au beam him to ninte security cells?"
The Station's ops officer comes back almost immediately, "Ie, rekkhai.
Locking onto any readings of non-crew signatures.....hnah." After a
moment, D`Tarik's father shimmers, then fades. After another short pause
the Station's ops officer reports, "Got him, rekkhai..."
"Au may want to tend to his wounds..." D`Tarik informs him, "He put up a
bit of a fight, and we had to take him down. Hann`yyo..." he finishes, as
he puts the hypo back into his leg compartment.
Katara sees the leg-bit and raises a questioning brow, "Um...that's na
standard equipment is it? I won't have to get that done too, will I?"
"Na!" he almost laughs, "Look who au'rh talking to Katara!" he smiles, "I
did this on my own! Just a small storage compartment."
"Well, okay then." she smiles back, "I was about to give up on that whole
'studying for med school' thing right now, if au had said otherwise."
He does laugh this time, "Na. It's na like that." After a moment, he nods
"Anyway...I need to talk to Emni, and.... Rylan is na going to want to see
me when he wakes up..." he heads for the doors, still a little shaken up by
the chaos of the day.
"Oh! Actually, Rylan did want to see au!" Katara calls after him, "He said
he had stopped by ninte quarters before he came here...least that's what he
said to...." But D`Tarik had kept walking, his head down rather degectedly,
the doors cutting off her words. Shrugging, Katara sighs then locks up the
bar before going back to her own living space to tend to Rylan.
