[Deck 3]
"Rekkhai?" spoke a quiet voice spoke from behind him. At first, Rylan
didn't pay it any attention, he had been too lost in his own thoughts. But he
stopped as a hand gently fell on his shoulder and repeated the question,
"Rekkhai?"
Turning in the direction of the voice, he saw a girl a year or two younger
then himself look up at him questioningly. The blue of her eyes killed any
words that he might have said to her. "Are au alright?" she asked him again,
casting a look to his injured shoulder, then stated as he apparently didn't
realize it, "Au need medical attention."
That last broke the spell for him and Ry smirked, "I've about had all the
medical attention I need for io day, hann'yyo." then cast a look to the girl
again as he continued on down the corridor, "I don't recognize au. What
department are au in?"
She looked a little disappointed at that, but not really surprised.
"Well...maybe that's because the only thing au ever said to me was
'Rhennish!'" she teased, imitating his voice. "I'm io of the serving girls
in the bar." she explained. "My uncle owns it. I'm just working there till
I'm old enough to start Academy."
"Na au'rh na." he grinned, "With those eyes, I would've recognized au if au
were a serving girl."
"I doubt au ever looked at my eyes to notice them in the first place." She
countered.
Rylan raised a brow slightly, and walked around her, "Ie!" he teased back,
"Now I recognize au!"
"Oh, stop it!" he pushed him back, then nodded towards his shoulder, bringing
him back to the matter at hand. "Au need to get that taken care of before it
gets infected."
Casting a glance over his shoulder and seeing the damage done, Ry shrugs and
heads off down the corridor. "It can wait a bit, I suppose....I've got work
to do."
"Don't be silly!" the girl followed after him, "Just go down to medlab and
they'll patch au right up!" it was her turn to shrug this time, "I bet it
won't even take that long."
"Longer than au think." he smirks, "Medlab's closed, all of deck 4 is. I
should be down there trying to help repair it."
"Well then, come along to the bar, there's a first aid kit there." she smiles
up at him, "I could take care of it for au." Misreading the look he gave her,
she shrugged again and explained, "Bar-room brawls do happen occasionally.
That's why we keep io there in the fir....."
He immediately shook his head, interrupting her with a too-serious-for-Ry
look, "Au can't go in the bar. The bar's off limits, as of right now."
"Na, see I work there." she grinned at him and shook her head, "Just because
the chief of medicine said that au can't go in....."
"It's na that." Rylan grumbled back angrily, reminding himself to kill
D`Tarik later, "There's something wrong with the holoemitters on the ship.
That's where I got these from." he points towards his injured shoulder.
Biting back an amused grin, the girl shook her head and headed for the door
of the bar. "And I see *somebody* doesn't follow doctor's orders too
well...." she winked at him, "Au have been drinking."
Before she could step close enough to the doors to activate them, Rylan
grabbed a hold of her arm, and turned her around to face him. "Don't go in
there." seeing the girl raise a questioning brow to him, he tried again.
"The holoemitters on the ship are na functioning properly. And the safety
levels are turned off. The thing in the bar did this to me, and practically
tore the face off my friend."
"But....what about my uncle?" the girl's blue eyes turned wide with worry,
"He was in the bar...." Not knowing what else to tell her, Rylan only shook
his head in answer. Her face contorted suddenly in anger, and she pushed him
away, making him release his grip on her. "Au'rh drunk!" she yelled at him,
then turned and entered the bar.
"Na!!" Rylan called after her, but the door closed behind girl, shutting her
inside. "Fvadt!" Ry drew his disruptor and checked the charge-level,
sighing to notice that it was a bit too low for comfort. Keeping the pistol
ready, he opened the door, making sure to stand in the doorway so that it
couldn't close behind him. The gun in his hand lowered slightly as he stared
at the room in disbelief. All the tables were the way they should be.
There wasn't a trace of blood on the bar or any signs that a battle had raged
on within the room only a short while ago. And the barkeeper, who the
blue-eyed girl was now talking to, was fine. There wasn't a scratch on him.
Taking a small box out from behind the bar, the girl said something else to
the barkeep, then headed over towards Rylan. Putting her hand gently over
the weapon he held, she pushed his arm down, making him lower the pistol
towards the floor. Taking his arm, she turned him around and lead him back
out to the hallway. "Let's get ninte shoulder patched up." she said quietly,
"Where's ninte quarters?"
Looking from the girl to the bar-room doors then back to her again, Rylan
finally stammered, "But, but, but...there was a thing...a Cat-Thing...." he
points to the bar room doors, "In there!! It did this!" he points to his
shoulder. Realizing how that probably sounded, he stopped and sighed, "I
swear I'm na making this up....."
"Okay." the girl nodded, "Just...let's get au to ninte quarters so we can get
au patched up. Alright?"
"Ie...this way..." he motioned off down the corridor. After a few steps he
suddenly stopped and grabbed her arms, looking almost mad as the thought
occurred to him, "Wait a minute! DT knows....He was there!" grinning, he
nods and shakes a finger at her, "Go ask DT. He'll tell au. He's got the
scars to prove it too!"
"And DT is.....?"
"D`Tarik!" he answered, surprised that she didn't already know, "Au
know...Chief of Medicine....D`Tarik tr`Rekkohan....."
"Au want the chief of medicine," she began slowly, "To see au like this." she
shook her head and tried to lead him off down the hallway, "He put an order
out that au weren't supposed to be drinking au know...."
"Fvadt!" Rylan pulls away from her, "I'm telling au he knows! Just go ask
him then. I'm na drunk! Why the Areinnye does every io think I'm drunk?!"
"Because I can smell the Rhennish on ninte breath." she answered simply.
"Now....if au want to go see the chief medical officer, fine, I'll take au
there. He'll at least take better care of that shoulder then I could. But
au need to be resting it off."
"Fine, fine, fine." Rylan, tired of arguing his case headed off towards his
room, "Look, DT's quarters are on the way to mine. Let's stop in and see
him. If he doesn't have scars on his face, then...." he hesitated, then
announced quietly, "Then I'll admit I have a problem like everybody seems to
think I have. Alright?"
Nodding, the girl took hold of his arm again and lead him back down the
corridor. "Fair enough." she smiled.
