SRR AylhrChapter Twenty-Eight: Freeing a Cadged Bird
[2369 Landing Pad, Erinyes Colony, Codis V]

Dais'erie'Riov Conn'Hae i'Caernu tr'Rok walked down the landing ramp of the High Speed Transport that Arrain tr'Randuiel had piloted from the SRR Aylhr. An Aevr'iahwil (Flight Technician) approached and came to vaed'rae on seeing the Saehne. He snapped off a crisp salute, to which Conn'Hae nodded and walked on.

Jarok stopped to give orders to the Iahwil before hurrying after the Leih. He caught up and came into step behind Conn'Hae as the pair now marched towards the Office of the Landing Pad el'Fvrihai (Senior Administrator). Without bothering to knock the Leih barged into the office and passed an elderly secretary before coming to a halt in front of the man's desk.

el'Fvrihai tr'Dissioc looked angry at the intrusion, but said nothing, waiting for the Galae Saehne to speak. He did not wait long.

"Aefvadh, el'Fvrihai. Reh am Dais'erie'Riov tr'Rok of the SRR Aylhr. Reh am here only for a short time. Reh request ninte assistance in locating someone dwelling in this Colony. Reh require access to ninte database, and a Flitter for transportation." he said curtly.

tr'Dissioc thought for a moment as he allowed his anger to fade, better not to upset the Galae, "Of course, au may use arham Secretary's Avaenndraev (Computer) whilst Reh am calling a Flitter for ninte use."

Conn'Hae nodded, "Hann'yyo." was all he said before turning and marching from the room.

He sat at the swiftly vacated desk of tr'Dissioc's secretary while Jarok stood close by, looking out of the window, disinterested by the goings on.

"Arrain, au should locate the Flitter and await me there. Reh hope na to be too long." Conn'Hae said, wishing now to get the man out of his sight.

tr'Randuiel saluted briskly and left his Leih alone in the office.

Conn'Hae entered the database and searched for through the Rihann'su resident at the Phi'lasasam here on ch'Codis. Finding the name he sought easily. Quickly putting down the details on an ISD he closed off the database and returned to thank the el'Fvrihai for his help. Leaving the Office he headed for the main entrance to the large administrative building of the Landing area and found Jarok waiting for him in a military Flitter. After being handed the ISD Jarok punched in the coordinates and the Flitter left the ground skimming over the roadway towards the outskirts of the small colony, and the Phi'lasasam buildings.

[A Short time later]

Conn'Hae left the Phi'lasasam building, the frown on his face showing the disappointment that his visit had caused him. Returning to see the sneer of tr'Randuiel he looked at the chronometer in the Flitter. It was getting late, and neither had eaten since leaving the Aylhr.

"Find us an Eating Establishment, Arrain. Na to far from here." he ordered, and sat in silence as the flitter moved slowly through the streets. Looking out at those rushing about he saw Lloann'na in large numbers, surrounded by the Rihann'su who had come to this world since the War's end.

None looked to happy to be here, yet at least the Rihann'su were free. Those Lloann'na of several different races all had the look of defeat about them. There had been talk after the Peace Negotiations of Starfleet being allowed to come in and take those who wished to leave back into Lloann'su territory. As far as Conn'Hae was aware this had na begun yet, so the original inhabitants of Codis V remained here, under the watchful eyes, and disruptor's of the Galae and Tal'Shiar forces on the planet.

"Would au like to eat here, Rekkhai?" Jarok's voice snapping the Leih from his thoughts. Conn'Hae looked around at a small eatery and nodded.

"It will suffice. Will au join me Arrain?" he said, hoping that the answer would be negative.

"Na, Rekkhai. Reh will remain here and wait for au." replied the newly instated Ifvelhr'Saehne of the Aylhr.

Conn'Hae left the flitter without another word and headed into a restaurant. He noticed at once, as the Head Waiter came over to him that only Rihann'su ate here. A human waiter showed him to a table but half way there he stopped, seeing the person he had been looking for. Leaving the waiter he headed straight for her table.

"Is this seat taken?" he asked quietly.

Llyriah t'Lhoell looked up from her soup bowl, her eyes widening and a smile appearing on her face as she recognized the serious looking man standing before her.

"Na, please be seated. It is good to see a friendly face after being here so long."

[Earlier with Jarok]

Jaroks orders to the iahwil that the shuttle was to have complete maintinence checks was unheard by the Daise'erie'Riov. Actually, his entire need to stop to order the iahwil was ignored as the leih continued his pace towards the office of the landing pad el'Fvrihai. Jarok hurried after tr'Rok, almost leaving the iahwil to salute empty air.

Jarok had never visited the colony world before, and from his expression it was evident that he regretted every second of it. People of too many races walked the colony hub, nerve center of Aaenhr Erinyes. He had fought long and hard in the war against the lloann'su, and this was his reward. A traitorous leih and a colony soiled by ssouhia ryak'na. Its still obvious Federation design was still evident, obviously this was not the priority of the rihannsu who had been assigned there. But it would be soon enough.

Leading. tr'Rok swiftly passed through the unguarded doors barring their way without halting or identifying themselves. It was obvious that the rihannsu had dispensed with the pointlessness of lloann'na privacy protocols and had installed the normal rihannsu high ranked saehne bypass ability. tr'Rok barely glanced at the secretary who merely watched both saehne walk past with interest. It was most probably a rare sight to see a saehne of such importance in a trivial place such as this.

The el'Fvrihai's angry look was replaced by one of disgruntled acceptance as tr'Rok listed his demands of a flitter and access to the colony's database. Jarok stared out the window with a disinterested and angry look. The ssouhia outnumbered the rihannsu. If he had fought the war here, he would have eliminated every man, woman and child. Better the rihannsu never see a non-rihannsu face on their world.

"Arrain, au should locate the Flitter and await me there. Reh hope na to be too long."

Jarok saluted the leih, turned smartly on his heels and headed out back to the main port all under the watchful eyes of the secretary. He leaned out over the railing to survey the place.

The bustle of activity reminded him distinctly of Koahht Hama. Here and there flight technicians repaired, recorded and replaced equipment, Gekha stood in grim poses of attention and work bees took off and landed. But the differences were glaring.

Jarok could see the blue of a Bolian as it fixed a shield system, the blond hair of a hevam female as she checked the roster of a ship ready to launch and the boisterous laughter of a Brikar as it easily carried a damaged shuttle nacelle to the rihannsu paectum. But nothing disturbed him more than what happened next.

Jarok glared at a paectum'saehne who approached curiously.

"Can I help au?"

Jarok was unaccustomed to being so informally addressed. He raised his hand to his chest in salute.

The paectum'saehne quickly stiffened and saluted in return.

"Im sorry rekkhai. It will na happen again"

Jarok made his request in a clearly disapproving tone.

"Io selae'rrh'eilln. THEAH"

The paectum'saehne quickly saluted and scrambled away. In a short while a military flitter came out of seemingly nowhere, obviously meant for him. As it settled down to land gently in front of him, he moved forward to take the controls before jerking away in surprise, his hand on his disruptor.

The pilot was a hevam!

As she got out of the flitter, she eyed Jarok carefully. "Your flitter sir. As you requested"

Jaroks look and voice reflected his unimaginable rage"Rhanne've lloi au, au ssouhia ryak'na!!"

At the sound of Jarok's voice, the paectum came running back again. "Fvah is going on here?" Seeing Jaroks hand on his disruptor and the look of anger in his eyes, the paectum quickly interceeded. Noticing the disturbance, two of the gekha started to approach, albeit slowly. "Wait! Wait!"

Jarok just stared at the paectum "Voi?" his gripped on is disruptor tightened, but remained undrawn.

The paectum stood in front of the woman defensively and took her hand. "She is my wife"

Jarok lost his grip on his disruptor altogether as his expression tore itself into a look of absolute disgust. "Haenither!!!!"

The paectum turned his back on Jarok and pulled the woman with him. She stared expressionless as Jaroks disgust filled face glared at them both even when they were well out of sight. He heard the doors from the office open behind him, turned and saluted before getting the the flitter and flying it to the leih. As soon as the leih gave the coordinates, Jarok programmed them in and both rihan made their way above the streets of Aaenhr Erinyes.

[A Short time later]

The swarms of ssouhia below the flitter were obvious. Though neither he nor the leih had eaten since they left the Aylhr, Jarok was far from hungry. He had lost all appetite after the events of their landing.

"Find us an Eating Establishment, Arrain. Na to far from here."

With the large number of lloann'su and relatively small number of their rihannsu masters, Jarok surmissed that a small establishment would cater for the needs of the masters. He quickly located a suitable place.

"Would au like to eat here, Rekkhai?" He gestured to a small building as they hovered nearby.

"It will suffice. Will au join me Arrain?" The leih obviously asked out of his twisted desire to mend things with the two rihan. Jaroks answer was terse

"Na, Rekkhai. Reh will remain here and wait for au." He had many things to think about and did not need the aggravation and stigma of eating with a traitor.

After the leih left, Jarok stared out the windows of the flitter at all the ssouhia that walked by. Too many rihannsu had been lost to make this world theirs and many more would be lost to rid themselves of the ryak'na. He glanced at his ISD, which read "erie'Arrain Marak tr'Ayean. Paectum'saehne". He read over the details. He did have much to do.

[Resturant, Planet's Surface.......]

Lhoell leans back in her seat as she recognized the officer that had approached her table, and asked with a slight upturn at the corners of her mouth, "So what did au do to end up on this pitiful dust ball of a planet?" Her tone was almost teasing, and yet it wasn't. Her jade-green eyes still held a flicker of her passion for flying that he could remember from his days as a Farien; though, there was also a haunted and far-away look behind them now that hadn't been there before.

"Reh have come here to find au." Conn`Hae stated simply, "Ninte Hru`diranov had a message sent to me. Reh assisted his search for au on ch`Delnar."

"Ah..." Lhoell nods, "Reh knew he had been worried when Reh found out he was there." she pauses slightly and shrugs, "Reh was....transfered to the 4th. Reh wasn't allowed to tell anyio as it was a secret assignment." Her eyes briefly travel to the pips that he wore and added, "Au, at least, have done well for ninteself, 'Ouyyir tr`Caernu'. . Still piloting fighters, are au? Or did au finally find ninteself on an Oira somewhere?"

Conn`Hae takes the seat across from her as she spoke, and answers her questions quietly, and with a somber note, "Na as well as au may think at present. Reh am to be summoned to ch`Choriel. Reh now command the 3rd Strike Wing of Galae`Tho; my ship, the SRR Aylhr was involved in a skirmish over the Neutral Zone border. It appears that Reh ran from victory against an enemy."

Lhoell raises her left brow slightly at this. "Au? Run from an enemy? Na *arham* Farien tr`Caernu. He - Reh know - would never have done such a thing." she pauses for a moment, then shakes her head, "Unless something has happened to change au so drastically, there is more to that story, Reh think."

Conn`Hae nods, but evades the almost-question. "Reh can na say anymore on the subject. Reh am at the whim of an Ael`Riov tr`Ojadanus. He shall decide arham fate." Llyriah only nods at this with perfect understanding for such secrets, and folds her arms over her midsection in wait to hear his other news as Conn`Hae continues, "But, the reason Reh am here...During the recent battle arham Ifvelhr`Saehne was killed. When Reh heard that au were here, and had na posting within the Colony heirarchy, a plan began to form in arham head. Arham Gonaiih`Saehne is a most unpleasent man, but he is very loyal to his beliefs, and has experience in Ifvelhr. He has been ordered to transfer to that Department forthwith." He pauses to take a silent breath, hoping the tarnish against his name won't put her off, "Reh want au to take the Daise`Gonaiih`Saehne post on the Aylhr."

"Most generous..." The haunted look that had been in her eyes upto this point had disappeared for just an instant. Biting on her lower lip to prevent the grin from appearing, she asks as if she had to think about the offer, "And do au have fighters on ninte ship, and will they also fall under my own duties to perform?"

"The Aylhr is by definition a Command Ship." he explains, "We carry only a pair of High Speed Transports. But Reh am sure they could be upgraded to Bombers." he smiles slightly, "Reh am sure au would like to fly the Laehvel, it is a beautiful ship. But ninte main duties would be on the Oira."

Losing the battle with the grin entirely, she bows her head slightly towards him, "Fighters or na...I would be very honored to call au Leih. Rekkhai."

Conn`Hae breaks into a large grin of his own, "Reh did na expect au to call me that back at the Phi`Lasasam. tr`Pagrah will fall off his stool when he hears of this. He is an EnArrain now, and Aevr`Leih of his own Squadron out of Coriel."

"Ah, that is very good to hear." Lhoell smiles happily, "Reh always wondered what had become of 'Arham Ouyyir`Io' , and 'Arham Ehhae' . It is good to know au have both done well for ninteselves."

Conn`Hae frowns as he nods to this statement, "Let us hope that the Ael`Riov sees things similarly."

"Ninte record should speak for au on that." Llyriah nods, "I would na worry about it further... though that's easier said then done, Reh am sure."

Conn`Hae nods again, feeling like a Farien back on ch`Delnar once more. "Have au eaten yet? Reh have Arrain tr`Randuiel waiting outside, Reh think the wait will do him good. He has na been planetside in some time, according to his record."

Lhoell motions at the still full bowl in front of her, "I don't have much of an appetite lately." she shrugs it off, as it's of no real consequence. "But if au have na eaten, then please do so." As Conn`Hae motions a waiter closer, Lhoell smiles with a soft chuckle. "Reh can hardly blame this tr`Randuiel. Reh don't much like being planet side either...." Her eyes drift away for a moment as Conn`Hae quickly places his order for a bowl of Tolekrya Root Soup and a glass of Rylhrhh.

As the waiter heads off to fetch his order, Conn`Hae turns back to the conversation. "Reh grew up on Starships. Reh had na seen a real planet until Reh came to the Phi`lasasam. Reh enjoy the difference, something a Holographic Imaging Chamber can na reproduce."

"Ah, to be born on a ship!" Lhoell smiles whistfully, "Like the first generation of our people. Reh was born planet side, au see. And for a Lhoell... being planet side is against our natures. We were meant to fly. Reh don't feel comfortable on the ground." she shrugs slightly, as the waiter returns with Conn`Hae's order, then she adds very seriously, the haunted and far-away look returning to her eyes once more, "More like a.....Dhael sa'dhoer aen`a" < bird with clipped wings >

"Au must be decended from the Ship Clans?"

Lhoell nods and says with a proud tilt of her head, and a matter-of-fact tone, "It was arham branch of s`Lhoell that piloted the FarTravel ships."

Conn`Hae pauses in his eating and says, "Well au shall be given every opportunity to fly aboard arham ship. As soon as we get back aboard Reh will issue the orders to travel to ch'Coriel. We shall see whether Reh still command after that, or if Reh even live yet."

Llyriah tilts her head curiously after this statement from him, as if listening to something else entirely. "Reh have na doubts that au will, rekkhai. I know ninte heart holds true Mnhei'sahe. It always did." her eyes very pointedly travel to the scar he bore, then added after a moment, "When do au wish for me to report for Service under ninte command?"

Finishing the soup off quickly, Conn`Hae answers, "How long will it take au to pack? Arham Ifvelhr`Saehne has a flitter waiting to take us back to the Landing Dock. We can be airbourne and back on the Aylhr within the hour."

Lhoell smiles slightly and waves a hand over herself, as she's wearing the only Galae uniform they had given her. "Reh am packed. Arham belongings were lost in the war. Reh am ready as soon as au are ninteself." And that was true, mostly. She still had her favored kalen hidden in her boot as always. After only a slight pause she adds almost mysteriously, "As for testing the capabilities of ninte ship, Reh can do that as we travel to our destination. Or later, if that meets ninte approval."

Conn`Hae drains his glass as she had spoke. "Well then, Reh shall have to introduce au to Arrain tr'Randuiel, ninte predecessor in the Gonai seat, and now the Ifvelhr' of arham Oira." he indicates that she should lead them out, "It is good to see au again Llyriah. Very good indeed."

Lhoell stands and nods, beginning to lead them out of the resturant, "It is very good to see au too, rekkhai." she had dropped back to walk just behind his shoulder as she had said that last word.
