"Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill." - Ventrue Vampires
Guide to Etiquette
[Oira]
Jarok's attention never wavered from the gonaiih as he tracked and kept in
perfect coordination with the two flanking K'Sejnik's and one trailing. Like
a giant, four fingered green hand reaching out to crush transgressors, the
murderers of thousands of rihannsu were to be punished.
Jarok was unimpressed by the t'Rakla's attempts to mask itself with nebula
emmissions. Not only was the nebula too weak, but the D'Deridex had not be
configured correctly to take advantage of such trickery. Feanna. Only
Rihannsu could control what rihannsu created, not other lesser species.
Instinctively Jarok pulled the ship out of warp, but not before the K'Sejnik
class SRR Terha did. It seemed that the Terha's Gonaih'saehne was competent,
or its commander was confidant. Jarok knew that if the t'Rakla was to make a
stand, it would have to be made here. The t'Rakla's nearest safe sector was
over 30 minutes away from this one, 30 minutes too late for its crew as the
fleet would have caught them.
Jarok watched the Gonaiih console as the great hand slowly thinned to a
line, with the Terha at the apex and the Aylhr close behind. The remaining 2
ships in the fleet pulled out of warp and dropped in behind the two and in
concert the four ships closed on the t'Rakla. Without warning, the Terha
pulled away quickly and fired its disruptors from long range. Jarok frowned,
the commander was not only too confidant, but too arrogant too. The Terha
had been the ship directly behind the Aylhr in formation, its captain was
eager to prove it deserved greater honour. Jarok resisted the urge to chase
the rogue vessel and remained in formation.
The t'Rakla's distance lessened.
Even Jarok had to shield his eyes from the explosion that engulfed the
Terha. He saw the warbird get jarred backwards, but continue unrelenting
towards the t'Rakla only to be shaken by another explosion, just off the
port nacelle. Mines. It appeared that the t'Rakla's captors were not as
stupid as they first appeared to be.
Another mine, then another. The Terha had rushed head first into an
invisible mine field, one that was appearing from nowhere. Phased mines.
Mines not in real space, able to appear from subspace at the whim of its
controller. As the remaining ships of the fleet veered around the Terha, two
more mines suddenly appeared and exploded instantly. The Terha was halted
and the remaining ships passed by. Once again it was at the rear of the
formation, and there it should remain.
As if mocking them, the t'Rakla turned ninety degrees on its axis and
accelerated to warp. Leaving the rihannsu to lick their wounds.
Jarok quickly pursued it to warp.
"Io siuren to weapons range rekkhai"
Jarok lowered his voice to stare at the console, and the shape of the
t'Rakla "...ecimae au llai"
