The Silent
Duelist, Yugi Mouto:
|
At long last it's Yugi's time to shine! =^_^=
During the search for Yami's real name within the Memory
RPG, Yugi-tachi make their way through Yami's tomb.
The real Yami Bakura has activated a time-freeze, so
fortunately the traps within the tomb are frozen, and
Yugi-tachi pass unchallenged... for the most part.
Nearing their goal, who else should confront them but
yet another
part of Yami Bakura...
**rolls
eyes** Who saw that coming? There are way too many versions of Bakura to keep
track of. There's the one playing the RPG with Yami in the
"real world", the one within
the game challenging Yugi, and the ancient-thief version that
challenges Pharaoh Yami (Thief Baku's dust at this point). XD
|
In order to find Yami's real name, Yugi must first defeat Yami
Bakura in a duel. Tristan, Joey and Tea watch from the
sidelines and are surprised when the first monster Yugi calls
to the field is a little puff-ball called Marshmellon, a
monster they've never seen before. Turns out Yugi's using his own deck for
this duel, one that even his yami knows nothing about. Seems
like our favorite vertically-challenged duelist has been hiding some tricks up his
leather-buckled sleeves. ;)
Yugi seems to favor a monster called the Silent Swordsman, a
four-star, 1000/1000 monster whose attack power increases by 500
after every turn, starts out a chibi-warrior and grows into a tall
muscular swordsman. ^_^ He also has another monster called Silent
Magician who vaguely resembles Ryou's Monster World character from
the first Yugioh series.
Anyway, Yugi defeats Yami Bakura in a surprisingly
short amount of time, although there was a tight spot where Bakura
forced him to discard a worrisome number of
cards to the graveyard. Apparently Bakura has some new cards of
his own, for all the good that did him. :P

The interesting thing is that most of Yugi's new monsters
actually resemble him in some way (The eyes! The eyes!). The
very idea of a "silent deck" and a "silent
duelist" is fascinating because it reflects Yugi's (dare
I say it?) style. All too often he's overshadowed by his yami, especially
when dueling, and any help he provides is spoken within the
secrecy of his mind. |
The
fact that Yugi has his own deck and is capable of dueling without
Yami's aid is landmark to Yugi's increased strength and
independence. The little dude's grown a lot since he first
solved the Puzzle. Sure, he's dueled on his own before, but
this time you really get the feeling that he's not leaning on his
yami at all. This time, Yugi's dueling for Yami.
So, what role
will this new, exclusively-Yugi deck take? Seems like it'll play an
important part later on, because when all is said and done, their
foes defeated, the pharaoh's
name found and his memories returned...
...The final duel boils down to Yuugi-ou! Yugi vs. Yami!
