Yugi's
Guide to Fine Art
|
Hi! Yugi Mouto here. Since the dubs are taking a while to get
translated (a long, long while), I've decided to make a
documentary in my spare time. It's been roughly 3 years since
Liz-san's taken that art history course, so I thought we'd go
and refresh her memory...
Aren't I a helpful little hikari?
^____^
Anyway, let's go see what blackmai-
err... footage we can gather, ne? **cackles gleefully**
Onward! |
Futurism:
an early
20th-century artistic movement that attempted to express the
dynamic nature of the modern age using technology as its subject.
Yugi's definition: the belief that the future can be
predicted with utmost accuracy. These predictions tend to
include things like apocalypse(s), imminent death and the rise
of various evil powers leading to an epic clash between good and evil. |
|
|
Impressionism: a style of
painting that concentrates on the general tone and effect
produced by a subject without elaboration of details.
Yugi's definition: the art of
leaving a mark. x_x Not recommended for children under
10.
|
Neo-classicism: a
revival of a style of art based on Greek and Roman models or principles, characterized by
an emphasis on geometric form (triangles in particular) and restraint of expression.
Yugi's definition: Pulling a Seto Kaiba. Warning:
imitating Seto Kaiba might be hazardous to one's health and
may lead to emotionlessness, callousness and the total decimation
of one's social life. Neo-classicism is not recommended unless
accompanied by a Mokuba.
See also Classicism: same as neo-classicism, but
earlier in the timeline.
Yami's definition: Pulling a High Priest Seto. |
|
Pointillism: a late
19th-century style of painting in which a picture is
constructed from dots of pure color that blend, at a distance,
into recognizable shapes and various color tones. |
Yugi's definition: The tendency
to "negotiate" with the aid of pointy objects such
as rods, knives, hidden daggers, spears, swords, letter openers...
... a-ano... Marik-kun what are you doing with that?! mEEP! |
|
Surrealism:
an early 20th-century movement in art and literature that
tried to represent the subconscious mind by creating fantastic
imagery and juxtaposing elements that seem to contradict each
other
Yugi's definition: Yami's soul room (a.k.a. That
Impossibly Confusing, Trap-filled, Do-not-tackle-at-3-am Giant
Maze Room Thing). |
|
Phew!
That was harder than I thought it would be (all that running
around and running away).
Anyway, I gotta go make copies of this. Must have backup tapes
y'know (in case someone tries to destroy the evidenc- er...).
:D
Shhhh! It's our secret. ;) Ja

Definitions were taken from Encarta with some minor tweaking (if
any). Yugi's definitions are not to be taken seriously. ^_^
