Lisa Vultaggio was born in Vancouver, Canada. Her surname means voltage in Italain, the ethnicity she embodies and embraces. In fact, her father, who emigrated from Italy, way before Lisa's birth, to western Canada in the late 1960's always told her, "Don't you dare change your name."
Vultaggio is very proud of being Italian saying, "There are so many Italian artists in the industry and I'd love to work with some of them."
Doubtless she'll make that goal in reality, as this smoldering young beauty has a habit of making her dreams come true. Lisa began singing at the Italian Cultural Centre at the tender age of five. Since then, she has been enjoying singing. When she was seven, she saw Zeffrelli's Romeo and Juliet and that's' when she discovered her passion for acting. "I would recite the monologues and practices them," she said.
Her father owned one of the top Italian restaurants in Vancouver called, "Favorito." While her parents were working, little Lisa would babysit her younger brother and watch singers perform on television. She would tape them and practice imitating them. "I was able to impersonate and mimic people really well. I would practice in the mirror, and then do some shows. It was a way for me to get on a stage and work, anyway." Lisa said.
Lisa also watched the soap opera "All my Children" with her mother. She would watch it, unaware of what fate had in store for her.
Knowing that acting was her passion, Lisa wound up studying acting at Breck academy in Vancouver. Lisa starred in many Highschool plays and was discovered by an agent during her starring role in the production of "Early Frost." After that, she began working steadily in numerous television series like "Street Justice, The X-Files, Highlander, Millenium and Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw years, to name a few. Lisa played Nina Croce in the movie, "Mortal Sins" with Christopher Reeve at a young age. She was also involved in a couple of T.V. movies.
Lisa also pursued another dream of hers, singing, and trained in Vancouver for five years. Lisa eventually landed a record deal in her hometown, but she gave it up to be an actress. Shortly after Vultaggio began to act, life led her to Los Angeles.
"While she was in Los Angeles, she guest starred in television shows such as "Melrose Place" and "Murder She Wrote."
In 1998, she flew to New York and screen tested for the role of Raquel Dion Santos on the soap opera, "All My Children," (too bad she didn't get that role, she would've been good with Mark Consuelos :-) Although she lost the part for Raquel, she ended up getting the role of Hannah Scott, on "General Hospital four months later. "I just can't believe how tough it is to act in a soap opera world," Vultaggio says, "It is such a great challenge. What really blows my mind is that there is no time. Its almost crazy. I got losts of support from Maurice Benard (Sonny) and my acting coach and the producers, too. I think once they developed faith in me, that I knew what I was doing, I was given the freedom to explore. That's when I was allowed to come out and play. It took me a good seven months to really understand the grip of it all. I was lucky to have all the time I could get to use everything. I've been fortunate too, that Hannah's been kind of a nervous and careful character to start, just a girl out of nowhere. I have so many colors in me, so many personality traits, that I'm really looking forward to bringing them out."
In the year 2000, Lisa was named one of the 50 most beautiful people by the Soap Opera Weekly magazine. Also in that year, she was named one of the sexiest women in the world by the FHM magazine.
Lisa met Jonathan Jackson at the 2000 Daytime Emmys. They remained close friends until he proposed to her in the year 2002. In April of that year, they announced their engagement, and on June 21st 2002, they wed. The following January, they announced that Lisa was pregnant with their first child. On June 21st, 2003, on their wedding anniversary, Lisa gave birth to their son, Caleb Nathaniel Jackson. The couple added a daughter to the family in July of 2005, they named her Adora.
Lisa Vultaggio is a very religious person. She keeps God close to her by prayer. Vultaggio keeps in touch with General Hospital cast members and attended GH get togethers even after leaving. She enjoys going to the beach, reading spiritual books, doing yoga, karate, salsa dancing and spending time with her friends. Lisa is also involved in ministry work and has been offered parts in movies and modeling.
Now calling herself Lisa Jackson, she attends her husband's concerts and movie premieres stating that she is taking a break from acting to spend time with her family. Lisa is an admirable and talented young woman. She has a good sense of morals, beauty and talent to go with it.
