The Gate of Tears
The Gate of Tears was once known as the Straits of Gold. Through this split in the land, connecting the Sea of Marmora to the Great Eastern Ocean, merchant ships carried wealth well-nigh unimaginable. It was the trade way between the eastern and western worlds, allowing merchants to avoid the long and dangerous trek across empty Tachin and wild Khur. All that ended with the rising of Sutech, the corsairs of that wicked place wreaking havoc and shedding blood across the seas.
When Silos Apocalypse slew Sutech, the phyiscal incarnation of Ravanna the Soul Eater, a cataclysm thundered across the earth, throwing up mountains on the southern shores of the Sea of Marmora that became the Land of Fire, devouring a great piece of Torne to create the Maelstrom of the northern sea, and closing the Straits of Gold forever. Silos was never seen again after the teeth of the northern and southern continents closed on the Straits of Gold, and the land-bridge created between north and south was named the Gate of Tears, in mourning for the loss of the greatest hero the world had ever known.
