Armed Linux

I've actually tried Armed Linux, the concept is good but I found it crashed during boot up. I down loaded the files from their FTP site and then ran the install program. It is possible that some of the files were corrupt. I didn't see any error messages during the install but my Pc would hang during boot up. Anyway it's free so if you have the time download it and give it a go.

The main problem with this distribution is you have to exit to a dos prompt from windows and then run a batch file. To return to windows you'd probably have to log out of KDE and then exit via the dos prompt. It's almost as slow as re booting each time you want to change OS's, without the advantage of the Linux file system.

Armed linux is available from the Armed Linux web site or from Softsource.com

The advantages of Armed Linux are:
It's uses of an easily reversible installation. There's no partitioning of the hard drive and it's an easy way of trying Linux as a second operating system.

New software can be installed using the RPM (Redhat Package Manager).

Hardware support is supposed to be excellent as well.

Armed Linux is a new Linux distribution meant for first time users and people who need Linux as a group of developers and users, we believe in Linux and want to see it flourish.

We also understand that in today's market Microsoft has a monopoly on the desktop operating system. The reality is that it is difficult to do without a Microsoft product on your system.

Many people rather run something else; something stable and able to be customized. To fill the hole we have developed Armed Linux.

Our Design Statement To develop a version of Linux for the first time user; to be a guilt free, easily reversed, non-destructive distribution that co-exists with existing Microsoft operating systems.
